I see you still haven't made yourself aware of how risk-averse prosecutors are. If it got to this point, there is. If it got to the point of issuing an arrest warrant, there is substantial evidence.

prosecutors are risk averse only for certain crimes, definitely not for sex crimes in this environment. Threshold for issuing an arrest warrant is low. I’ve read several papers on this. Especially with sex and domestic violence, a prosecutor would rather start a case and be proven wrong versus not pressing charges and letting a potential rapist or woman beater commit another alleged crime. Risk aversion runs both ways, and because prosecutors have immunity from getting sued, there are few repercussions from beginning a case in which the claims are spotty.

Even if there is sufficient evidence to issue charges, we don’t know what the evidence is or the context of said evidence. It has to be proven that it is actually linked to the alleged crime, not tampered with or misleading and we are no where near that stage. Said evidence must be proven valid.

Obviously he’s going to claim innocence—just as the police and the alleged victim are going to claim he’s a monster— but I want to hear from Del Rio why this woman is making these allegations and what events led to this. If he isn’t going to say anything, then I want to hear something from his lawyer and then I’ll come to a conclusion by listening to both versions of the story.

As always, we have to preface any statement we make about Del Rio here with the phrase "if true..."

With that said, IF TRUE, this is both the most and least surprising news of wrestling's post-quarantine era. Most because I, like most sane human beings, wasn't expecting news of a reported sexual assault to come out...well at all in these months, but certainly not so soon after the Velveteen Dream fiasco (has that been resolved yet?). Least because...it's fukking Del Rio, do I need a reason at this point? He's one of the few people that could make the description of the alleged crimes immediately believable.

And that mugshot. This situation isn't funny (allegedly), but that's the most Del Rio in 2020 photo imaginable. Bugged out and sunken in eyes, extremely pursed lips, complete with the drawn cheeks. Are we sure he didn't have an 8-ball of coke immediately before his arrest?

When you share blood with Mil Mascaras, and he's far and away a less hateable human being than you, reevaluate your life choices.
