i know of a person that wasnt the lead..isnt a "star"..didnt have top billing and still got 1m from disney...this dude should have gotten at least 1m for being the lead in a disney movie (that made a billion dollars)...

What he should have got and what he actually did get is different
You don't get to renegotiate your contract after the fact because it made a billion, your quote gets higher for the next movie
This could have been a flop like Dumbo, who knows
go look at the first contracts for the Avengers, they all were in the $150K to 300K range

i didnt say he should get paid "after the fact" you did...i think 1m is the minimum the lead in a big budget 2019 disney movie should get...the reason why i think that is because disney has given 1m to an actor that wasnt a lead or a "star"...i would probably agree with you if disney still paid only 150k to 300k but they dont...

I completely agree.

For certain types of roles, there's a niche that is filled by one particular actor. Like, for serious roles, there's literally one middle eastern actor at any point in time that Hollywood turns to. This actor tends to me more good-looking than your average middle easterner. Back in the day, it was Omar Sharif. Now, it's Remi Malek. There's no room for this guy.

I see only two realistic paths for him. One, get a day job. Two, lean heavily into his goofiness, exaggerate his shtick, debase himself, and get cast as the white guy's ethnic friend in a terrible comedy movie i.e. Taj in Van Wilder or Ben in Short Circuit. The latter route is thankless and disgraceful, but I think it's the only way he's going to have any kind of success in showbiz.

Yeah, thanks for pointing that out; it really needs to be said. It's kind of perverse where we've reached a point where it's considered progress that actual ethnic actors can play goofy ethnic roles rather than have white guys playing goofy ethnic roles.

If his career had started ten years ago, he could be a terrorist in one of those Zero Dark Thirty/The Kingdom/The Green Zone type WoT films; unfortunately (or not), the moment has passed.

He didn’t do a BAD job by any means but it wasn’t one of those “A Star Is Born” type moments for him

Have no thoughts on it..havent seen it...I just want to see Jasmine anyway.

Even Naomi Scott ain't blow up after Aladdin. She barely got any press for Charlie's Angels (it was all Kristen Stewart promo) and of course, that movie bombed drastically.

If she couldn't blow up after Aladdin, Mena should know what time it is.

But they shouldn't be surprised. During the whole Aladdin promo run it was all Will Will Will. Even when shows would feature Mena and Naomi for promos, they were still just background characters to Will. Ala when they did the street theater performance on James Corden...that was all Will. And when they were on Ellen...it was all Will. They even delegated Mena and Naomi to doing the role of Vanna White during a game sketch while Will and Ellen hosted from the audience lol.

Also, there was a ton of bullshyt over the casting of Aladdin; protests and complaints about whitewashing and cultural insensitivity left and right. It might have made the non-Will people in the movie radioactive to the suits; they might have wanted to wash their hands of everything involved in the movie.
