Legislation should be for more counseling and investment in mental health and job training for young people, not gun control

I can't be agaisnt fire arms of any kind seeing how life is outside the cities for alot of people. Alot of people hunt for food, and seeing as grocery prices aren't helping...

What’s your solution then?

Well it's not like we can get Thanos to snap his finger.

The only solution is to sweep the streets of guns and even then there's so many on the streets.

Just think, anybody with a good record and background can buy a gun and sell it on the street. The criminal can scratch off the serial number. How exactly do you stop that?

I approve. You can ban guns and people will still find them if they want. And if they want one bad enough they'll have one made.

So instead of lobbying for gun control, they should be lobbying for more secure schools and other areas that the public frequents. If a corner store has bulletproof glass, i don't see why a school shouldn't.

Sucks that it's like that, but america has a problem and no real 100% effective way to solve it. Best solution right now is prevention
What will gun laws do? Someone wants a gun illegally, they will get it.

i've read this a lot in comments sections after every shooting.

im genuinely curious. is the argument here that if we ban guns, there are less of them out there but shootings still happen?

are you aware that there would be less shootings as a result? cocaine is illegal, and people will get their hands on it if they want it. but how many mass coke overdoses have you heard of? alcohol is legal, people can drink and drive if they want to, but how many drink and drive deaths have happened since punishment for it became harsher?

i've also heard people will just use other means. currently, americans are more likely to die from guns than sharp objects like knifes and swords, terrorist attacks, and environmental disasters.
they are more likely to die from guns than car accidents.

what do you think a ban on guns or harsher laws will do to these odds? keep them the same or reduce them?

Harsher laws will do nothing. A ban on guns, well there's so many in circulation, how would you stop it?

the same way the DEA stops the flow of drugs into the US. there are legal drugs and illegal drugs. if you have the latter, you will be found and arrested by the US govt. apply the same logic, create a similar orgnization and get to work. this is would be my plan, but at least i'm coming up with one instead of sending thoughts and prayers.

but you didn't answer my question:
what do you think harsher laws will do to those odds? i mean just having them and having everyone in the country know what the consequences are. what do you think will happen

Harsher law like what? Criminals already know the consequences and don't care. Some of em even like jail.

Serve up the death penalty and you may have a point.
