there's alot of misconception about this project.

It's not an Akon city. It's called Diamnadio. basically a bunch of Senegalese and foreign investors, plus the government are collaborating and want to make this city as the manufacturing and government hub on Senegal. It's literally right next to Dakar and a light rail express train will connect the two cities all the way to the airport. The pictures and renders you see in the op called, Lake City is just going to be a district of the new city. Akon is just one investor.

So it's like Luanda Sol, a satellite planned-city built a few miles from the capitol.

However Launda SOL is fueled by oil money, Senegal doesn't have the oil capitol like Angola or Nigeria has. So it does beg the question where is the money coming from?
