I really wanted to see what the Hughes bros would've done....but taiki cool
Taika's got me hyped for it.
However, Denis is probably the only big Hollywood director that would get the pull to truly make it seem like anime.
No they're not. Unless explicity stated, characters in anime are Japanese to Japanese audiences.

the anime holds up incredibly well 30 years later (I mean the animation could come out today and still leave you ). Recreating something for the sake of it rather than for artistic inspiration will never get the cosign from me but reading a bit about Taika's mindset has me more relieved and open but still not too sure

now this is one time that hollywood can actually make an anime thats better than the original. Akira was all spectacle and visuals. The story is damn near nonsense but everything else is dope. Maybe they can make a cohesive story to go along with the visuals.

That's because the movie is a weird, condensed version of the manga. I'm not sure how a live action movie would "fix" that.
No matter how this looks visually people are going to shyt on it. No way to make a live action Akira and please the hardcore stans

Akira is one story I don't think it needs a Live Action adaptation at all
Not sure how Taika can do it Hollywood style, and I hope he tones down the comedy he loves so much. Let us see him show more range

I just don’t understand why a dystopian neo-city can spawn a new story than trying to rehash a classic
Akira was so layered it took multiple viewings to understand every element of the story. I highly doubt the expected financial returns on the movie will allow for such an in depth story; and will result in some topics BS Hollywood twist

yeah, unless they plan on making it a trilogy or some shyt, its just gonna be aas weird as the OG... but extra trash cuz its live action filled with a bunch of CACs.

or it should be called something else. the plot synopsis doesnt even sound like Akira. they making tetsuo and kaneda brothers, kaneda isnt even in a biker gang, shyt is set in new york..
