F*ck Ya Corny Debates
Most top 5's to people I met in real life are Biggie, Pac, Nas, Jay and (insert name). I never met nobody who had Ghostface top 5. Thats something you only hear on the internet. (Big Ghostface fan btw)
You're kind of all over the place here.
First, you are completely ignoring albums it seems. Why is that? And do you deny that Ghost has been a part of numerous classic LPs?
how is an album with no classic hits a classic album?
Second - your reliance on hits is misplaced. Drake and Wayne have more hits than Ghost and Cube - would you put them higher on an all-time list?
absolutely. love him or hate him wayne pioneered his era in a way ghost never has. and drake is currently in the midst of a run that ghost never even came close to.
again we're not talkin quality of music. that is all OPINION. we're talkin FACTS here. ghost never had the game in a vice grip the way those 2 have.
Third - you continue to judge Ghost as a "solo" rapper (I bolded where you did it in the above post) yet point to Cube lines from NWA? Isn't this inconsistent? And why shouldn't we consider Ghost's work wtih Wu? His work with Rae?
because nothing ghost did as a solo performer ever came close to anything he did with wu. ghost does not have a song in his catelogue as big as cream, protect ya neck, triumph, etc... or an album as big as 36 chambers. the impact the wu have made as a group shytS on the one made by ghost as a solo artist. in fact as a solo artist mef has him beat too just on the strength of you're all i need with mary j.
Fourth - Steady Mobbin was not a hit in the way those other two Cube songs were.
fair enough, just threw it in there cause it was a common hit
Fifth - you emphasize objectivity, but then discuss "legendary" lines? Isn't that partly subjective? Isn't the only truly subjective measure album sales and Billboard rankings? But isn't that entirely unreliable (Vanilla Ice and Hammer sold more).
no. straight outta compton is easily one of the most iconic and important rap songs of all time and cube's opening line is the one that kicks it off. EVERYONE has heard it. EVERYONE knows it. yea it can't be proven with numbers but it's understood common truth among hip hop fans and enthusiasts.
Sixth - for your final litany of questions - why don't you read @BuddahMAC post and refute it line by line? He addressed many of your questions. If not all.
no, because that whole post was fueled by his admiration for ghostface as an artist, which is subjective.
Edit: List the 40-50 names.
why you gotta do that. obviously i'm not gonna sit here and list 50 fukkin names. i'll list a few just to give you an idea
pac, big, nas, jay, run dmc, snoop, em, ll cool j, mobb deep, tribe, busta, missy, wu tang, nwa, kanye, 50....
and yea i purposely included names in that list i knew some people would have a problem with because those dumb muthafukkas are gonna get emotional and not realize that it all has to do with how successful a career they had and not how good or bad you think their music is.
Sales and what other rappers say about him. Great argument.Disagree...Why ?
(1) The album sales don't match other rappers of his era...
(2) Other critically acclaimed rappers don't even mention him as Top 5 or Top 10...They say Method Man was the best from the Wu (I don't agree with it)...
Only GFK fans think that he is Top 5 or Top 10...

you dont gotta listen to either one of them...Rather listen to Ghost than Eminem that's for damn sure.
Exactly. To me, a record like Broken Language is more classic than anything Drake, Wayne or Missy ever did. Even though more than half this board has probably never heard of that record.Success doesn't necessarily mean quality music and it doesn't necessarily represent impact.
Anyway co-starring (and pretty much stealing the show) on one of the best and most influential hip hop albums of all time is serious impact. Sure radio listeners don't know the lyrics to my username, but most current rappers never had a verse that good. That's not even touching on a crazy lyrical run from 1993-2000. If we're talking music quality and impact, ghostface can definitely be top 10 material. Has his star sunk in the last ten years, sure, but back before biggie died it wasn't all that weird to hear someone say ghost was better and this wasn't no internet board shyt either.
If mainstream crossover impact is required to be top ten, then well that's just not something I ever gave a shyt about and is not what hip hops about to me anyway.
