I saw this three times in the theater:yeshrug:.

After the crap they pulled with The Mandarin in Iron Man 3 and that movie STILL making over a billion. I had a feeling that Marvel was going to mislead us with the trailers again with Ultron.

I like AOU but it's on the low end of the MCU just based off the couple glaring missteps. Still enjoyable though, I almost want to say underrated but it deserves a lot of the hell it catches.

That trailer had me on :ohlawd::ohlawd::ohlawd::ohlawd:

I was expecting some dark shyt. At that point I wasn't aware that the Iron Man 2 template was what the MCU was gonna run on forever minus pallette swaps.

Now i'm :manny:.

It's on Marvel but they put it on Whedon. Same shyt w/ Dark World, they put it on Alan Taylor but really they chopped & screwed his shyt
MCU was pretty hit-or-miss until they gave the reigns to Kevin Feige.

then the only other way is to keep all of those people/heroes dead, which we know they will never do, unless of course they never have Thanos manage to do the snap in the first place, which is even “safer”

they pulled it off just fine

nope, AOU is better than all of these imo

Thor
Thor 2
Iron Man 3
Hulk
Ant Man
Ant Man 2
Captain Marvel

ill admit the MCU had a lot of “ehhhh” movies. The highs are high but the lows are low too. Phase 1 iron man was the only classic and i enjoyed thor 1 and hulk but its nothing i would marathon to this point.

This is one of the worst.
“There are no strings on me!” Is delivered masterfully, and his actions and demeanor never get to truly put as much weight to those words as his voice does.
Ultron could’ve easily been up there with Thanos when it comes to quotables.

Beyond quotables, he should have been up there with him as a villain. Marvel wasted him.

Try too hard, brehs.

So in the end, yeah, I fukking loved it. It's not perfect and once the adrenaline and hype disappears I'll probably end up being a bit more critical with some of the issues I had (another one that I just thought of is that Marvel shows additional lack of longevity planning with certain character deaths, that like a certain character's death in Daredevil, feels like they really aren't thinking as long term as they like you to believe they are), but goddamn it if this movie doesn't deliver on the entertainment from the opening to the end.

And I still stand by every word I said on it. The way the Avengers combine their abilities during battles to do different attacks straight out of comics, the constant highlighting of their attempts to protect lives first and foremost to defeating the enemy and on point character moments (Mjolnir scene, Vision talking to Ultron at the end). I'll always maintain that for how limited a filmmaker (and storyteller) Whedon is, he understood at the core of what heroes need to be (something that was utterly lacking at DC at the time).

Looking back on it now the movie suffers a bit because it is so non-essential in the legacy of the MCU as Whedon was making this simultaneously with other films. Where the first Avengers was the big climax to Phase 1 and Infinity War and Endgame were the climax to the entire Saga, AoU was just something that happened in the middle. It ended up being more The Avengers 1.5 with Captain America: Civil War making up for the other 0.5. That's what it is now.

Leave my great friend @TheGodling alone:dwillhuh:

I support him and his stance with this movie and we are doubling down.

Fantastic movie:ohlawd:

Made a billy and still talked about years later :whew:
For what is at least the second time, breh, I'm not your friend. And I definitely don't want to be associated with your fukking clown act.
