That web article :wow:

“Then there's cyberbusiness. We're promised instant catalog shopping—just point and click for great deals. We'll order airline tickets over the network, make restaurant reservations and negotiate sales contracts. Stores will become obselete. So how come my local mall does more business in an afternoon than the entire Internet handles in a month? Even if there were a trustworthy way to send money over the Internet—which there isn't—the network is missing a most essential ingredient of capitalism: salespeople.”
The complete 180 the world made on this statement right here 25 years later is just :wow:. The levels of wrong never before seen

Best part is the article will forever be on the internet for people to always point back to this gigantic L :mjlol:

You see the same lack of vision in a lot of the replies in this thread tho. Crypto and NFTs are all a scam they say. Just a bubble that will pop and fade away :francis:

You guys right-click saved all my videos. I'm getting revenge by right-click saving your NFT's.

Web3 is a roadmap without a territory. Funny how every single DAO to date has not been autonomous, and not decentralized. Funny how proponents can't wait to rid themselves of "big tech" and "web 2.0" (which all of this shyt is still technically built on top of, but what does technicality actually matter) but don't see that they're replacing one devil with another as 3 big VC firms are angling to suck everything dry from this space. Also weird how blockchain "technology" has been around for a couple decades and for some reason was never adopted by any of the big players, even throughout the mid 2000s as things ramped up exponentially. Yeah... a public ledger was really what's been missing for us to take the internet to the next level. I guess the big players never really had the ability to deploy it

I'm not against the idea of NFTs in theory but I haven't seen anything out of that space besides fraud, theft, rug pulls, really bad horrendous art, forced scarcity, celebrity shilling (which is funny because I don't think any celeb who's publicly shown off their little Bored Ape image has been proven to use their own money to buy it; it's been the exact opposite), wash trading, and corporations tripping over their feet to try and take advantage of this moment. Really not a great start.

Yeah I've seen a lot of those bad 1993-1994 takes from people saying the internet would be a fad, as classic "whataboutism" when NFT shills meet any sort of criticism. The thing about that is that both things can be true - those takes from 30 years ago were bad then and bad now, and the concept of Web3 should be met with criticism - at least until it's shown to be anything more than a vehicle for speculation and forced scarcity assets that were created out of thin air, being used to make even more money for a select club of people who have more info and money than the average person buying in does.

Bringing up those old takes also kind of alludes to what's happening now in the NFT/Web3 space is just as revolutionary or important as the internet itself, which is ridiculous.

I know a lot of people in this thread and on this board were around in 2016-2017 and saw what happened in the crypto market then. If you were around and posting during that time, even buying/selling crypto, and legitimately believe last week that the CEO of "Chain" spent $30 million of his own money on a NFT... we should get together, I have some really great business opportunities to present to you

Ok so how can we make some money from this shyt? That’s the real question

You might need to put some money up front - for real - and find a few people who know what they are doing - but the easiest way to make money from this shyt would be to mint some yourself, make up some buillshyt about how the purchase of the NFTs are some underlying driver to help solve a bigger problem (like Melania Trump's "these will help children in foster care have access to the internet), get some paid actors and cheaper influencers online to start promoting it, and after launch you just completely shut the operation down and abscond with all of the crypto. Tumble the crypto and from there try to get rid of it the fastest way possible (various exchanges, locally for cash, selling for giftcards which you can sell for cash, etc.)

Even though that sounds like a lot and can take months, there are better odds on that being profitable versus buying whatever iteration of the Ape images are out and sitting on them waiting for someone else to buy it for more.

Once you have enough money built up from that first one, you can really launch a huge one your second try. This time on the second one, instead of absconding right away - let it simmer and build a little bit. Use some of that money you made on the first one to wash trade (sell yourself your own NFTs) for a super high inflated value so everyone else thinks that it's in demand and valuable. Then of course, once you built up a nice following and a ton of purchases - shut it down again and skirt off.
