After watching BvS 3 times, I don't understand why people disliked this movie so much

The 'Go
Doesn't make it good...

It's the dopiest thing ever all the way down to batman's ridiculous voice.

When he yells NOOOo it's hard not to laugh.
But u can't blame the movie for taking things from the comics.

That's like me saying Cap using a shield in 2016 is dumb or Iron man's color scheme is hokey or Superman and Batman wearing capes makes no sense.

The knightmare sequence is the dumbest thing ever for starters.

Batman in full costume while wearing a trench coat wielding a machine gun:why:
That right there took me out the movie for the rest of the time i was in the theater. I couldn't get back into it after that. Batman.... with the full suit.... wearing a trench coat. :why:

Thats like iron man putting a helmet....on top of his helmet :why:

Thats like cyclops putting sunglasses over his star trek glasses :why:

Thats like storm flying around with a barometer on her forehead :why:

Thats like Charles Xavier trying to ride a bike while in his wheelchair :why:

:why:

Poorly plotted movie, poor acting from the lead antagonist, poor character development of the leads (Batman and Superman), random action sequences seem like a filler, no internal logic (courts blame superman for a massacre that was perpetrated by firearms where the ammo is on the fukking ground, then get mad at him for not saving everyone in the court house when a bomb goes off), addition of doomsday makes no sense at all, batman nightmare sequence makes no sense as they don't hint why he is even having these visions. Hamfisted intro of new Justice League near finale is completely disjointed and lame with Lexcorp making offical icons for each meta human SMH.

I could really go on and on, but the movie was just poorly thought out on the script side, it was poorly written, it was poorly directed, and it was miscasted and badly acted by people you needed to carry it.

wait, u thought the end fight was fire? cant relate at all

I loved it because it was jaw dropping visual ecstasy and straight out of a comic book. The homages to TDKR with Superman getting nuked and shriveling up from the radiation and the shot of Batman grappling away from Doomsday with lightning in the background, the Wonder Woman reveal and how she straight up whooped ass, as well as that shot of the 3 of them standing together :banderas: And all the overbearing explosions and effects that belong in a comic book movie because it's a comic book movie, not just an action movie. We also get to see 3 heroes' working together flexing their greatest assets, Batman with his intellect, Superman with his compassion and sacrifice, WW with her unbridled power. Honestly was it any worse than any Avengers movies where they just fight an army of robots or aliens and then confront the big baddie?

Not a Marvel or DC "stan" or "hater", but I don't see nothing that would warrant a 28% on Tomatoes, and at the very worst it was just an OK movie

The only complaints I understand is the dumb Martha thing, the grim and joyless story (if that's not your cup of tea I get it), Lex portrayal (although I didn't mind it), and the plot was muddled (even though the Ultimate edition shows a much more linear cut).

Everything else was fire, and this is coming from someone who is definitely not a big Zack Snyder fan, and who thought Man of Steel and Watchmen were cheeks. Please tell me what was so bad about it? :dwillhuh:

Internet/Twitter bandwagons basically swayed everyone's opinion. You know how it goes now with shyt. People want to get in on the jokes rather than saying Nah. It wasn't terrible. It wasn't perfect, but it definitely wasn't terrible.

Same thing happened with Marvel's shyt in the other direction. The smartest thing Marvel did was schedule Civil War after BvS because it took the pressure off Civil War. If you ask me Civil War had more weird/gaping plot holes than BvS did and I stil enjoyed it, but I'm probably never watching it again. I'd stop the channel if BvS was on the screen though.

Appreciate the detailed response, but to these points:

Poor acting from the lead antagonist

Let's be clear though, Jesse Eisenberg is a talented actor (albeit a bit one-note), the problem people had was that they felt it was a miscast/didn't like how he fit. Acting wise, if you put that character in some random movie other than BvS, it would have been fine

poor character development of the leads (Batman and Superman)

Agree on the Superman part, HOWEVER if you watch the Ultimate edition you'll see they left out a ton of Superman scenes (and I mean a ton) that greatly developed his character in the midst of his storyline.

I don't agree though that Batman had poor character development, if anything he was the shining star of the movie and they did a good job of depicting how he's been jaded and turned after 20 years in a still decrepit and corrupt Gotham

no internal logic (courts blame superman for a massacre that was perpetrated by firearms where the ammo is on the fukking ground, then get mad at him for not saving everyone in the court house when a bomb goes off)

They blamed Superman for the massacre because they thought he caused all that collateral damage, what with the burned bodies and all, and they didn't "get mad" at him for not saving people in the court, they thought he had a hand in it

addition of doomsday makes no sense at all

Why didn't it make sense? Lex created it as a contingency in case Superman came out on top, so he could kill "God"

batman nightmare sequence makes no sense as they don't hint why he is even having these visions. Hamfisted intro of new Justice League near finale is completely disjointed and lame with Lexcorp making offical icons for each meta human SMH.

I'm with you on these, but I feel like those parts were done for fan service, and if you're a fan of superheroes and the comic book movie genre, you excused the misplacement of those parts for how epic they were. That's just something that adds to the belief that this movie was "for fans and not critics"

Warner Bros gutting the film is part of it. If they'd taken their time, streamlined the movie and didn't try to set up so many things at once it might've been an all-time classic. But studio execs gon studio exec :yeshrug:

why every thread on here about BvS, littered with the same 3-4 marvel stans popping sh*T (the same sh*T) over and over again?

we get it you didn't like the flick, why do you feel the need to express that every time you see a bvs thread?
OP wanted to know why people didn't like it.
