After rewatching The Wire, I think it's safe to say Stringer>Avon.

Stringer also broke the Sunday truce resulting in the near death of a bona-fide colored lady.

And that British accent didn't help neither.

Maybe that's why McNulty and Stringer had a special bond. both knew they were using fake American accents and wanted to see who would be revealed first.
:heh: @ the bolded

But yeah that was a huge violation. He fukked with avons reputation by suggesting they lay low when shot at, that they parlay with a gay snitch assassin thief, who SHOT AVON, violating the truce, etc

maybe but Avon's muscle is what got them there in the first place. Plus if he wouldn't have been playing games with Mouzone he wouldn't have gotten murked in the first place. AND if he didn't snitch on Avon they were about to clap Marlo up quick

Yeah but it was time to move to the next level. With the Co-op they were making more money and bringing less attention to themselves. The Mouzone thing was a stupid risk but Avon wasn't listening to reason.

Stringer would've made a horrible kingpin

He got fukked over by clay Davis and it seemed like everyone knew but him

He was a smooth smart/dumb n*gga

Clay Davis played everyone, that's why he got his reputation. Stringer would have learned.

The Co-op was simply a way for Prop Joe to control the brick and town breh, otherwise he had no corners nor muscle to sell his shyt, the co-op thing was all about Joe having the crown and flaunting it, both Avon and Marlo understood this

See that's the type of thinking that Stringer was against. Who gives a damn about some crown when you're making far more money than you did when you had it? Everyone was benefiting. You're in this business to make money. Period.

Why did the cops go after Avon in the first place? The bodies.

Avon and Marlo knew what Stringer didn't about the game. It's illegal and savage, therefore cannot be played on the up and up or like a legal rational business.

Lucky Luciano?

Breh no one was talking about running it like some legit business that's impossible but Stringer had the right idea. If we can find a way to ease the senseless blood shed and still make money, why not do it?

Btw by the finale of season 5 the Co-op is still going on despite the deaths of the Stringer and Joe. They others saw the good in it.

When you announce you are 'trying to reduce the bloodshed' you instantly become food for those willing to increase it. And having those meetings puts people open to conspiracy charges and makes everyone more susceptible to police monitoring.

Breh the only reason they went after Avon in the first place was because of the bodies he was dropping. They never gave a damn about the drugs.

They didn't even know who he was until Mcnulty brought him up.

If McNulty was a narcotics cop instead of a homicide cop it would have been the drugs. He is the reason the police went after Avon.
