After illmatic, it's not crazy to say GKMC is number 2...

Definitely gotta give this time to even be in the conversation. I know it may feel odd but there used to be a time when albums got a chance to marinate, grow over time and age before the word classic was just tossed around so easily. Of course albums were called classics on the first go round but they stood the test of the time to live up to that title. illmatic, Ready to die, Cuban Linx, etc. all got the credit they get now due to that time, so pump the brakes before using the "c" word. Putting it as the number 2 album of all time and using "influence" as one of the criteria is crazy when the albums a lot of dudes would put above it have had a greater impact and influence, some of the influence still being felt today.

Yo mods, can you add "classic" to the filter? Look no further than this thread to see why....:snoop:

GKMC is dope and all, best rap album I've heard in a while, but in the sense of it being a classic record, as opposed to being another Below The Heavens or Pink Lavalamp i.e. dope music but not considered classic, we're gonna have to wait a little longer to see if the album stands the test of time.

definitely the best album of the last 6 years, definitely a classic, but there are some albums released in the early 2000 and in the 90's that are better than this one

and you guys might look at me with the :usure: face but think about it for a second.. 10 years from now when we look back, most of you will be ranking this album higher than what it is right now. It's just really a classic in the upmost perspective with the way the whole concept was executed flawlessly. I would have to say it beat out Ready to die as far as albums go.. and i'm the biggest biggie and Nas fan.

breh I just posted in a next thread how much I rate K.Dot but I cant co-sign this, there are so many factors that you are either choosing to ignore or do not see.

For starters, the era both biggie and nas debut records were dropped in, climate, they we're both released close to each the other, the industry, age of artists mentioned.

Do you not believe/think these things are relative.

K.Dot will no doubt go down as a hall of fame emcee for his generation, but to put him up against iconic/legendary emcees and their classic débuts is unfair to K.Dot and unnecessary fam.

you guys overlooked when i said GIVE IT A DECADE!!! I swear most of y'all would have probably said the same thing about Reasonable Doubt when it first dropped about anyone being crazy calling it a classic, but it eventually went down as a lot of people's top 10, 10 years from now everyone is going to RANK this album higher than previously mentioned, i can GUARANTEE that! I just see it before some of you do. Sh*t, when Ready to Die dropped, people thought of it as a "Dope" album, no one was ranking it 5 mics till Big passed and as the years passed.
