Some movies have changed direction due to the actors pro-involvement.

Directors don't always have total control. Demi Moore was known for this. Her role in Ghost was supposed to be very different than from how it turned out, but due to her aggresiveness she was able to get them to change how she portrayed the character which slightly changed the plot and had an overall more powerful affect on the movie.

Besides the fact that Will Smith originated the story himself and pretty much handpicked the screenwriter and signed off on Night as director I don't think Night really is gonna fukk this up. Night's problem was getting too successful too soon and having too much power over his movies, Smith ain't having that shyt. This movie is his baby, he came up with the story, its going through his production company and is being set up as a franchise for his son. This movie has EPIC potential to be black excellence personified

I really do like M. Night and think he's still got great movies in him but he's one that CANNOT be allowed complete control of a project. Just look at Last Air Bender he had too much say on the changes and story direction and it took the heart and charm that the television series displayed and pissed all over it.....

Saw the trailer for this before Iron Man 3 and the shyt looked good. I'm glad they didn't put M.Night's name on in too, smart move.

Ehh, i like the concept and the fact that something different for black movies( not too many sci fi movies with black cast imo). Also like the father son dynamic they got going on in the movie too Gotta be careful tho, Shymilan's track record hasen't been good of late.

The twist is this the Independence Day sequel they came back and trolled us so we left earth. Will smith descendants saving earth

It might do numbers but its not a foregone conclusion by any means..first off M Night's name is poison at this point so a lot is gonna depend on reviews/word of mouth. If its positive there aint much else coming out till Man of Steel so it can eat good. But if its negative and Fast 6 is piff I can see this debuting 2nd with under 50 mil
