If you don't realize the music in this culture is a problem in so many ways , you are either too young to have to think objectively about it or too ignorant.

Exactly. Ill chalk it up to youth for most these posters. Ill be the 1st to admit that i just turned 32 but it wasnt until 4 or so years ago when my mindset towards rap started changing. Specifically after i worked in a youth detention center. One of the kids had "bang bang" (chief keefs' ad-lib) tatted on his arm. This culture is EXTREMELY influential. And mind u this was in ATL. Chief Keef is from Chicago and isn't even in the mainstream like that

I feel you Im about 6 years younger than you, but I just started to realize this about a year ago. Before It was just "music" and didn't really think it had a profound effect, It think it takes us people making it to a certain age to realize how harmful it is. Tragic thing is most minorities don't make it to that age of awareness.

Not really, you're Canadian and don't face the issues we face. You're on the outside looking in.

Just like I can't tell a Nigerian what's really going on in Nigeria.

And okay, after the "eradication" of rap, then what?

Will the amount illicit drugs on the street disappear?

Will the African-American unemployment rate go down?

Will the amount of illegal hand guns disappear?

Will the system of institutionalized oppression cease to exist in the United States?
Famo you know this is a waste of your time. Would you seriously try to explain white supremacy to Bill O'Reilly?

Well, good luck on your quest but I've got a strong inklin it's gon be futile. :francis:

Dat's why it's da parents job to instill critical thinkin and common sense into their chirren at an early age. And to keep nurturing those habits of thought as dey get older.

Can't continue to blame rap music for dese parents' failures tho. And at some point personal accountability has to come into play for some of dese youngins too. You old enuff to know robbin and shootin mufukkas are bad things and can lead to eam worse outcomes. But mufukkas choose to do it anyways. :manny:

No boogeyman is in da headphones forcin nikkas to do none of dat dumb shyt. I undastand "influence" but to a certain degree. Cmon nah. :aicmon:
I understand every point you making but a lot of our people don't have that strong enviorment growing up. I know from personal experience. And even at that its only so much parents can do.

When you got nikkas who never sold drugs/shot anybody rapping about that just because then its a n issue.

I think bill Cosby may have said it, something to the effect of we as a people started going downhill when all we aspired to be were rappers & ballers. More recently with females "vixens/diva's"

So you can at least admit that it has become far more than an "influence".

Let me ask you, if tell a child they can stay up as late as they want as long as it don't affect they're school work. They end up playing ps4 till 2a every night. Grades start slipping, are you gonna allow them to continue to have a choice? Or are you gonna make that choice for them?

Not that I agree with everything @PhonZhi says. I get it.

Even tho u a Bron cum guzzler, your post as well as others in the Charleston threads gained ALOTTA respect from me :salute:

Maybe either u, phonz or somebody else should drop a solutions thread. Unless it already is one and I'm just missing it.

Because we both know in two weeks once the heat dies down. In this Social age people will move on. We all gotta do our part to keep that fukking stove hot

Another thing, will the gang culture that precedes Hip Hop disappear?

Crips - 1969
Bloods - 1972

Especially in my city Chicago, the gang capital of the United States?

Mickey Cobras - 1954
Black P. Stones - 1958
Vice Lords - 1958
Four Corner Hustlers - 1960
Black Disciples - 1960
Gangster Disciples - 1960

For the guys that don't have a strong foundation, these are the guys the look up too. These are the dudes directly in front of them.

And this refutes the fact that hiphop culture promotes and glorifies ignorant and destructive behavior how exactly?:lupe:

He wont answer breh. Funny how cats are scholars when it comes to Bron, Kobe and Pawgs but when it comes to things that REALLY affects our community, u see the "c00n" side make an appearance. Again, ive NEVER said rap is the cause of our problems (that would be stupid as hell) but like u said, u got cats thats never been bout that life making it seem cool.
