It’s neither, :snoop::snoop::snoop::snoop::snoop::snoop:. It’s a Yoruba word that basically means someone that is living no longer or are astray from their home, which is basically what African Americans are, they are not living in Africa anymore but America. They are Africans in America.
The word is not necessarily derogatory but can be used in a derogatory manner depending on the context. Hell most people in Nigeria who are even Yoruba aren’t even aware of the word and it’s not even a part of their vocabulary. If most of the people on this board would travel to Nigeria and ask them what Akata most of them have never even heard of the word

Is it specifically for African Americans or any black person living outside of Africa?

Literally anyone that has been Americanized. The artist say as even his family called him out as such.
Ultimately it’s a mentality brought about by Hollywood lies and confusion due to programming of black people on the continent.

Its becoming to the point that if Nigerians don't address their inherent anti-ADOS views then we just gonna give some of yall want yall want and just cut complete ties. Yall choice...:yeshrug:

They already flaggin, and reporting the song as hate speech, and vowing to continue, here on out.....dude 'career' flopped before even starting!!
Guess Akata music won't be his lane..

Man allot of yall are overreacting lol

This song isn't shytting on Black Americans, he's chastising his family by calling out their Anti-Black American views

He's making a mockery of it

And as an African myself, I'm not here to defend Anti-Black American, Africans

I actually have some of those people in my own family

but stop overreacting yall and actually listen to the intent of the song

on a side note : this song is lowkey fire

This must be why Nigerians are attacked wherever they go throughout the continent. Yoruba's sadly tend to be the face of Nigeria, and there is a segment of that society that has been compromised. He needs his fat ass beat immechiately.

I get the context, not mad at him.

But for those juelzing saying that he wasn't using it negatively gotta backtrack. He's using it negatively just in the context of mocking what he was told by his parents/elders about black folk in the states.
