I have to give a shout out to Eric July a.k.a. YoungRippa59 for his start up indie comic company, The Rippaverse. And the launch of its first comic

Isom
2022.07.12-07.21-boundingintocomics-62cdc9c9346c0.jpg

Avery Silman was once an entry-level hero known as Isom in the city of Florespark, Texas shortly after gaining his special abilities. A certain event had him hang up his suit, and now he stays on the outskirts of the city, living as a rancher.

Avery’s sister, Altona, gives him a call and wants him to visit an old friend by the name of Darren Fontaino. Another family friend that was interning with Altonta has gone missing and she last heard that she was dealing with Darren. But Darren has much changed since he was hanging out with Avery when they were young. He’s a cold-blooded shot-caller and one of the most feared men in the city.

This visit turns into one of the longest days in Avery’s life. Around these parts, people call ‘special beings’ Excepts. And unfortunately for Avery, he has the luxury of running into some of them. The Alphacore and Yaira have their own set of conflicts. A man built like a tank by the name of Santwan reappears and he’s had previous confrontation with Avery. So what happens with Avery and Darren’s meeting? Who and where is the family friend? Just grab Isom #1: Ill-Advised Pt. 1 and find out for yourself!

Whether you agree or disagree with Eric July's a.k.a. YoungRippa59's views, here's a young Afram/ADOS brotha that is putting his money where his mouth is and he genuinely cares about the state of and creating fictional media.

I knew he was right leaning but I saw him posted up with kyle rittenhouse and now I can't fukk with him at all. It's crazy as hell how he did this 180 from a gangbanger to this current version of himself :hubie:

im not gonna buy or check this comic out but its salute that young man for getting so much crowdfunded money in a short amount of time. Also that blacksands dude (forgot his username on here ) gotta focus on pushing his comics on his own merits and not taking shots at others i felt like that whole IG post he made was unnecessary just looking to gather attention to his brand and also coming from a place a of jealousy that it took him 2 years (& a shark tank visit) to get 2 million+ for blacksands when eric did that shyt in a few days pretty much alone.

Just found out about breh. Why is this Rippaverse dude getting blacklisted?
Because he's a heterosexual black man with conservative views...

White women, sexually confused white men and their emasculated bend over c00ns hate heterosexual black men...

Breh crossed $3 million today...:salute:

At the bolded part - YoungRippa is more of Anarcho-Capitalist than a conservative. But I get the point.

Well done to him for making $3 million.

Or its just because he’s a goofy c00n. Every time one of his videos pops up into my feed, its always him regurgitating racist talking points when it comes to black representation in media. If you constantly find yourself on the same side of an argument as the people who hate you, or only like you when you have your tap shoes on, you need to reevaluate yourself.

Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko

Nothing is more important than loyalty. But what if you’ve sworn to protect the one you were born to destroy?

Tarisai has always longed for the warmth of a family. She was raised in isolation by a mysterious, often absent mother known only as The Lady. The Lady sends her to the capital of the global empire of Aritsar to compete with other children to be chosen as one of the Crown Prince’s Council of 11. If she’s picked, she’ll be joined with the other Council members through the Ray, a bond deeper than blood. That closeness is irresistible to Tarisai, who has always wanted to belong somewhere. But The Lady has other ideas, including a magical wish that Tarisai is compelled to obey: Kill the Crown Prince once she gains his trust. Tarisai won’t stand by and become someone’s pawn—but is she strong enough to choose a different path for herself?
I've juststarted reading the book. So far, it's pretty good. The world-building is fantastic. It is a YA novel, however, it's a lot darker than it looks and sounds, trust me.

Djeliya: A West African Fantasy Epic by Juni Ba

djeliya.jpg

Inspired by West African folklore and stories handed over centuries, this unique graphic novel follows the adventures of Mansou, last prince of a dying kingdom, and Awa, his loyal Djeliya, or 'royal storyteller' as they journey to meet the great wizard who destroyed their world and then withdrew into his tower, never to be seen again. On their journey they'll cross paths with friend and foe, from myth and legend alike, and revisit the traditions, tales, and stories that gave birth to their people and nurture them still. But what dark secret lies at the heart of these stories, and what purpose do their tellers truly serve?

Accidentally breaking a barrier between our world and theirs (called THE MOTHER KINGDOM), Is'nana, the son of Anansi (The West African God of Spiders) accepts the responsibility for releasing creatures of horror into our world, villains who want nothing more but to cause chaos and mayhem to achieve their own diabolical or selfish goals. With guidance from his father, Is'nana not only strives to live up to his father's name but to also reach his own potential while he seeks to discover his individuality and place in the world.

Is'nana the Were-Spider is a horror fantasy, coming of age comic book series about the son of Anansi the Spider, the West African and Caribbean God of Stories. Is'nana attempts to find his own place in the world while also having to live up to his father's legacy.

Incorporating characters and tales from African mythology, Caribbean folklore, and African American stories, writer and creator Greg Anderson Elysee hopes to introduce audiences to the potential of mythical and spiritual figures of the Black diaspora in hopes of keeping our cultures alive.

This is the type of speculative fiction media I want see from Africans. I'm loving the Yoruba traditional/historical items, clothing and colours. I hope the movie is a success.
