new media is probably still a good thing overall.
there just doesnt seem to be a great system or great way to highlight when things are absolutely un-factual or intentionally misleading.
if people dont have the ability to discern for themselves whats BS or not they easily get caught up in the finesse

call that darwinism if you want. either way, its a dirty game

It's not just about "darwinism" though. Young people are literally getting fukked psychologically across the board. Facists are using it to greater cement their control across the board. Instead of comparing the victims of social media, you should really compare the exploiters. Basically, it's become "survival of the most cynical manipulator", where the global ecosystem has been a race to see who is willing to go the furthest to manipulate the most people most effectively. And it's turning everything to shyt.

I have seen the slightest sign that facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. are good things overall. In terms of individuals, in terms of communities, in terms of nations, it's fukking up shyt across the board.

The investor has more than $114,000 worth of bitcoin, ether and stablecoin USDC deposited at Voyager, roughly 80% of his family’s life savings. On July 1, when he received an email from Voyager that the company had halted user withdrawals, “my heart sank.”
In November, Ruiz invested about $33,000 of crypto on the Voyager platform. His holdings, including more than 11,110 Cardano and 360,000 Terra Luna Classic among others, are today worth about $5,000 as crypto prices have plunged. Now, it’s unclear if Ruiz will ever even get his coins back.

i personally wouldnt allocate more than 10-15% of my invested money into crypto
and its always been my rule to never invest what i cant afford to lose. especially into riskier assets like crypto

There were all these beautiful claims about how "new media" was going to bring a new era in open information and free the consumer, but in reality it just proved that the average American when given no restrictions and any power at all will push absolutely any bullshyt claim for personal gain.
because new media is essentially like a village square...its just global ...with nice pictures

and village squares are places where for centuries people ( usually ignorant ) would spread rumors and bullshyt to get folks riled up or just con them that theree were witches or mermaids or how there was streets paved with gold ...

we are regressing as skeptical critical thinking people because folk think its truthful if they see pictures and hear enough people who say the shyt they like to hear.....

its a big fukking grift....
