Being a Libertarian generally doesn't mean one wants unregulated systems, criticizing inefficient or counterproductive regulatory systems doesn't necessarily lead to the conclusion that unregulated systems are good.
Plus, contracts and contract enforcement are supposed to play an important role in a financial system, and yet the crypto space has consistently seen contracts being broken with little to no legal consequences.
I personally never believed in the promise of crypto because for all of it's libertarian rhetoric I don't think that crypto is:
a) decentralized
b) allows for real price discovery mechanisms (since nothing tangible is being produced) and
c) is able to provide more efficient alternatives than the market already provides.
Thus, crypto hasn't made me double down or give me pause because of the aforementioned reasons. And I'm rather practical and I don't have grand fantasies about how a libertarian world would look like.
@ogc163 random AF but curious how you reconcile your views as what I presume to be a Libertarian (based off of your sig), with the shyt show that is unregulated, "anything goes" crypto? Does it make you double down on your libertarian perspective or does it give you pause about how a libertarian world would play out IRL, or something else?
