Me- Born and raised new Yorker from nyc. Bronxite. And so were my parents

Maternal lineage stems from south Carolina. Grandmather came from st George sc

Both paternal lines stem from Charleston sc(both grandpas)

My fathers lineage comes from Raleigh nc mainly on my grandmas side

Lineage comes from Berclair, Leflore County, Mississippi.

Great great grandparents were born slaves in 1850.

Grandmother moved to Chicago in 1948 to go to high school.

Dad - from Louisiana
Grandmother (Dad's side) - from Louisiana
Grandfather (Dad's side) - from Central Texas and Oklahoma

Mom - from South Dakota
Grandmother (Mom's side) & Grandfather (Mom's side) - from the Dakotas... I'll admit, I don't know much about their history given that there wasn't a substantial presence of blacks in the dakotas... plus they moved to Texas when my mom left Ellsworth....

I'm hoping more info comes out about blacks that lived there, like:

Born and raised in Baltimore. Paternal great grandparents were the children of former slaves in Howard County, MD.

They were also first cousins

My mothers people been in Baltimore since slavery but don't kno too much about them beyond my grandma. All my roots right here in MD

Born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi (west side).

Both parental lines are from Mississippi. (Paternal: D'Lo, Maternal: Laurel).

A lot of my father's family was chased out of MS by the Klan. They settled in Tennessee, Texas, Georgia, Illinois and New Jersey.
