War in Afghanistan for 20 years was a big money laundering machine. Everyone involved in it made money, from military to local Afghans. No responsibility at all, the decision was made in 08 already to end this. And only 12-13 years later it finally happened.

You can't create a centralized democratic state in those places. It's a pipedream for all those human right defenders who imagine that everyone in this world thinks like them. The bullshyt got to such a point where military would fake the numbers on how many Talibs they killed, to show that there is a growing resistance and therefore get more funds to fight them. Or a local Talib and Afghan ally from western funded government being in family ties, faking a conflict to get money :mjlol:
We created fake schools there too. It was a stupid waste of money.

Media coverage seems extremely misleading at this point.

1) Country is overwhelmingly rural (70%) and yet we're only hearing of experiences of subset of Afghans who live in Kabul, worked with NATO forces/Government, and multilingual or have duel citizenships. While their views are valuable, its impossible to say theyre representative of population as a whole. What do people who lived in rest of the country think about the withdrawal?

2) The focus on chaos at airport has given impression the country was largely stable up till this month. There was a staggering number of civilian casualties every year of the war, particularly in rural areas, but were largely tolerable internationally since there is little communication access or foreign media presence.

China didn't just lose a 20 year war...this distinctly American pathological desire to pretend this country didn't just lose a war and therefore shouldn't face any negative consequences is mind-numbing. This is one of the most remarkably positive endings to this entire misadventure that America could have asked for.

Define lose and what were the goals in the 1st place?

China is doing some major COPE since they have to deal with this. They’re trying to spin a W out of this. They know it’s a huge fukking problem and terror attacks against the Chinese have rapidly increase in number and scar.

plus, how did America lose? I know it’s cool to say but America is literally pulling up the capital and telling the taliban what to do around it’s main airport. That’s actual power. There’s no one being slaughtered in retreat. It’s more managed that Vietnam ever was and the brutality isn’t there. On top of that if Americans really wanted to re-invade they would take the country in less than 2 months like they did the first time. Ok maybe three months. But you get the idea.

At least stay long enough for that allies can get their people out safely.

Especially when you are asking them to take in thousands of refugees.

Biden is making America look weak :hhh:

Obama would not have done this
If you’re an American and still there you want to be there
