It was 22 years ago and the company almost had nothing to do with it. The name "The Owen" is actually really cool though. Makes it sound very prestigious.

nikka SO? They can't honor a legend of the business because he didn't work for them? Especially when there relationship between the Widow the company that killed him is irreparable considering, you know....they killed him. He will never be honored there, so why wouldn't another top promotion in America honor him?

Great idea, many families will be directly helped, one of the greatest wrestlers of all time is honored properly, and a great young talent will benefit from winning the Owen Cup. So naturally some will be MAD

AEW surpassed every expectation possible so far. A mark company doesn’t beat WWE in NYC multiple times
She was never gonna let Vince do anything with Owen's name again, that was always her beef.
Bret and the Harts understood but still fell out with her because they didn't agree on completely wiping away Owen's memory just to maintain a grudge with Vince. Hopefully doing this with AEW is a compromise that brings them all back together.
