AEW On TNT Tickets Sell Out The Capitol One Arena In Hours Amid Continued Demand
AEW sold out its first television broadcast on Wednesday, October 2 in Washington, D.C.
Still, none of it mattered as AEW managed to sell out yet another venue for yet another milestone show with tickets going on sale at 12:00 p.m. EST and selling out hours later. CREDIT: AEWRESTLING.COM
AEW’s hot streak continued as the promotion has reportedly sold out the Capitol One Arena in Washington, D.C. ahead of its television debut on TNT.
The good news for AEW comes on the heels of the upstart promotion selling out All Out in 15 minutes just one year after its historical sellout of All in last year. Demand for All Out was said to have exceeded that of WrestleMania, and the demand continued as fans bombarded AEW Twitter accounts for tickets with Cody, Brandy Rhodes and others encouraging them to hang in there and “keep trying” to score the suddenly elusive tickets.
Some were skeptical of AEW to continue its run of strong ticket sales as, unlike pay-per-views like All Out and Double or Nothing, AEW on TNT will take place in the middle of the week (as opposed to the weekend) in Washington D.C. (as opposed to a hotbed for fly-in crowds like Chicago or Las Vegas).
AEW on TNT will nark the official start of a weekly wrestling war against WWE, a war which has already manifested itself through various counter-programming tactics from WWE. WWE hosted partnering promotion EVOLVE’s 10th anniversary show on the WWE Network at the same time as AEW Fyter Fest. And while WWE’s airing of NXT TakeOver: Cardiff opposite All Out was chalked up to a coincidence, WWE is heavily rumored to air NXT on FS1 against AEW on TNT.
WWE is struggling to sell tickets for Hell in a Cell PPV
WWE
All Elite Wrestling’s All Out pay-per-view and the first show on TNT have sold out but the news is not good for WWE.
As noted earlier this week, WWE canceled all of this weekend’s SmackDown Live events. WWE cited scheduling conflicts but it might be due to low ticket sales as the SmackDown live event attendance has not been good.
WWE is apparently having trouble selling tickets for the Hell in a Cell show in Sacramento because they are not selling tickets for the upper sections or the area behind the hard camera.
As of this writing, there are still plenty of good seats available for the show on Ticketmaster.
Sacramento is typically a good market for WWE but the sluggish ticket sales are another strong indication that an overhaul is needed in the creative process to get fans interested again.
Let's see how the stooges spin this
