If you believe what Punk said, yes. However the one promo in question that's been regularly cited, unless Hangman was speaking in code that only Punk fully understood, didn't warrant the retaliation from Punk.
Punk knew. All the hardcores on twitter knew. To act like it was the da Vinci code or something is disingenuous. Whether Punk's response was apporpriate or not is separate from whether Hangman fired the first shot, which he did,

Don't know if the plan was for Punk to turn heel but it's really the only option they have now unless they just want to pretend none of that ever happened.

Even if everything Punk said was true, can't have your top babyface publicly disrespecting the EVPs, one of your top and most like talents in Hangman, and one of the most respected guys in the locker room in Colt.

Hangman is a generic CAW bum.

If Colt is one of the most respected guys in the locker room then AEW have even bigger problems than I thought :mjlol:

This is a business. Punk is a star who is drawing better numbers than all these goofy indie bums on their roster. Problem is these AEW wrestlers treat this shyt like it's PWG or some shyt and all they want is a safe space to make their corny dikk jokes with their buddies and act like Tony Khan ain't dump millions into this shyt and there's major TV deals on the line.

If they ain't happy with then go back to the indies where they belong :camby:

Hangman Page...i am so glad Punk called out this bytch ass "EVP" :mjlol:

at the end of the day he's their biggest draw and their biggest star. just like in pretty much any sport or even any business. there are different rules for people on that level of talent/skill/are generating that much revenue for the team/league/company.

you either cut bait and risk taking the hit on business or you let him get away with it. it's not like he is 100% in the wrong. i do think Hangman shares some blame for "shooting" on tv, it clearly is what set him off.

and honestly Colt Cabana was like the 3rd most over guy in the dork order and was mostly wrestling on dark before Punk even got into the company so it's not worth getting rid if your biggest draw over imo. the all friends wrestling era is over.

But the problem is Tony isn’t built for the All Business Wrestling era…
