You can even make wrestling legends!
All the CAW videos in this thread remind me of Young Rock casting

Time and budget. The current WWE games are still based off the Smackdown engine, so development time is used on features and adding new wrestlers.Aki & Yukes have been working on wrestling games for 30 years. They helped set the standard for modern games. I know you feel like you have to shoot AEW some bail, but there's no good reason why this particular game is so lacking.
Keep it real just this once, they fleeced the customers who wanted an AEW game.
Some people are saying this is better than 2k
They’re lying to themselves out of love for AEW, but they’re saying it lol
Latest 2k with all its faults is one of the best wrestling games in a very long time. Its 82 metacritic score is warranted to be completely honest. It’s so customizable with sliders and creations that you could literally turn that shyt into a better AEW game than AEW’s game
some people just want fun, pick up & play gameplay
Personally, I haven't had actual fun with the in-ring gameplay in the 2k joints in a few years.

Fight Forever has a newly built engine and hand drawn animations which take a considerable amount of time. They mentioned that one character took a whole year to complete. All of that in 3 years. If given an extra year or so, I'm sure we would've seen a more robust CAW at the very least
IMO, it would've been better if the devs kept the game until it was finished & then released it. We already waited 3 years, 1 more would've been fine.
Like I said earlier in this thread, they sold us half a game and used "it's an arcade game, bro!" as an excuse for fleecing the customers.
Hopefully, if AEW gets another game, they keep Miss Kenny off of the dev team and include all of the features (commentary, a full creation suite, modern graphics, etc.) that have become standard in wrestling video games. They can give us an arcadey experience without shorting us on features.
Yuke's is using the Unreal Engine 4, an engine they have no familiarity with, so I'm not surprise how the game is so far. It would've faired better if Yuke's was given time to focus on things people care more about like an more robust CAW with community creation like you said and an universe mode. I guess the mini games could stay and we've already done talked about the gameplay enough as is, but if you're going to be charging $60, then the expectation will always be high.Time and budget. Most new games take 4 to 5 years, and I'm guessing Tony didn't know that because he was originally expecting a September 2022 release date. I remember there was a rumor about tension between Yuke's and AEW which I'm guessing some of which was because budget and Tony cutting their development time.IMO, it would've been better if the devs kept the game until it was finished & then released it. I read about that tension, too. From what I read, most of the frustration came from Kenny Omega trying to tell the devs how to do their jobs. Most new games take 4 to 5 years, and I'm guessing Tony didn't know that because he was originally expecting a September 2022 release date. I'm guessing in-between character DLC drops we will see updates for the stuff that was dropped in order to get this released. Of course it depends on sales if Yuke's stays or goes and continue doing their own thing.
If you buy the Elite Edition it's only $20 extra as that is $80 and includes the season pass.yeah this shyt is not worth $60
way too bare bones
and on top of that they charging $30 for the season pass
You know what I mean, bruh. They built the game from the ground up instead of working off a base like the 2k games or most yearly sports games.Yuke's is using the Unreal Engine 4, an engine they have no familiarity with, so I'm not surprise how the game is so far. Games take many years to make and with how wrestling is, any first installment is going to have an outdated roster. The gameplay is fine but the lack of matches and modes hurts this games replay value a ton.
The roster is also outdated.
It’s sad that it took them years and years and years to make this and the game has such little depth to it.
