I think they were averaging around 125K per B show before the Network, when ratings were higher and more people were watching in general. I think sub 100k for most PPVs throughout the year is a reasonable assumption of where they'd be at today if they didn't start the Network when they did.

I had to check back on the 2013 to 2015 numbers. Up until the Network debut they were doing 190-170k for B shows. Once the Network debuts most PPVs go to shyt immediately, Battleground is the last show that gets more than 100k without being a "Big 4".

@trick That's still a lot of people spending on PPV (most of the time, half of them were from North America) but 2019 feels like the product is so much colder than 4 years ago that breaking 100k would seems highly unlikely for any non-Big 4 show. Though 40-50k seems like a was lowballing it.

Are there numbers of actual PPV buys in the past 2 years? Even those numbers in 2015 seem crazy high for traditional PPV buys for them. There's no way those numbers have stayed that high, not that they really matter anymore because really why the fukk would you buy a traditional WWE PPV after 5 years of all access for $10 and it's never been easier to pirate on top of that.

There is no point in getting a non Big 4 PPV when the same matches will be on TV a few weeks later. It's all a waste of money. I wonder if AEW will have shorter, less restrictive contracts for that reason. If watching boxing and MMA regularly has taught me anything, it's that people always want fresh and new match-ups. Doesn't matter about the match quality, it's all about generating anticipation and excitement

That number is really impressive all things considered, just imagine how much they couldve done if they werent charging $60 for a PPV in 2019 :francis:

The flip side is that number is pretty impressive for a $50 PPV in 2019 :ehh: they gambled on if they had an audience willing to pay that kind of bread and it worked out

Very good number for first ever show. That ends up translating in to a good amount of money. Promising, interested to see how far they can take it, am willing to keep supporting them on the journey as long as they keep delivering and improving.

plus the ticket sales had to average about $200+ being that it was in Vegas

may have been 16,500 tickets if it was sold out

that's approx 3 million at the gate
and 4.9 million for PPV buys

successful show that delivered

NJPW better start making money moves
