i did catch some of those things when i was younger, like the helga's alcoholic mother and the gay teacher. i wasn't blatantly aware of his homosexuality (like i didn't claim he was) but there was certain things that made me question how he was. i was actually watching some episodes on netflix yesterday evening. trying to get through the first season. but this show doesn't hit me as hard as it use to. it's still enjoyable to watch and remember some of the scenes but i don't find myself laughing like i use to. now i just observe the show and listen and take it in...

Yep, that's why she was always slurred and making "smoothies". On one episode, she was making one of her "smoothies" and asked Helga to pass the bottle of tabasco sauce (making a Bloody Mary), and I remember Arnold asking Helga if her mom got her license back (DWI/DUI) when she dropped her off at school.

I was always wonder why the hell you need tabasco sauce for a fruit smoothie.
