can someone give me cliffs

Adnan dated this Korean girl Hae

They broke up but remained friends

One day she was murdered

Adnan became the prime suspect but there's shoddy evidence and he had an alibi who saw him at the library at the time of murder. His former friend Jay testified under pressure from the State of Maryland to make Adnan look guilty.

Adnan's lawyer didn't give him a good stand and she was terminally ill, she died in 04

He's been in jail for almost 16 years.

Even if he did it there's not enough evidence to keep him in jail for life

There's a lot more details but you gotta listen to season 1 of serial and follow the undisclosed podcast

Adnan Syed, whose murder conviction was the subject of the 2014 true-crime podcast “Serial,” is indeed getting a new trial, the Maryland Court of Special Appeals ruled Thursday.

Syed was convicted in 2000 of murdering his high school sweetheart Hae Min Lee in Baltimore, Maryland, before leaving her in a shallow grave in a local park. The case gained international attention when "Serial" focused on it in its first season, becoming an instant success as the fastest podcast to reach 5 million downloads and streams in iTunes’ history.

As "Serial" meticulously detailed, many questions remained about Syed’s representation and innocence. He first appealed his conviction in 2012 but was denied. A judge then vacated Syed’s conviction in June 2016 after deciding that his defense attorney at the time had not effectively represented him or cross-examined the state on key evidence.

Syed was granted a new trial, and after the state appealed that decision, the court upheld the decision on Thursday.

so is adnan

but jay knew where the car and body was

In the legal system as we know it today, do you think a black man with a record is telling that he willfully helped hide and bury a body of a minor who was an honor roll student and walking out a court without so much as probation? I'm pretty sure he was coerced into that testimony since he is telling different versions of it even up to a few years ago.

What details did they not know at the time that he provided? They already had the body and we're looking into Adnan's cell records since he was their lead suspect. The only reason Jay went in is cause they started questioning a girl he had called that day with Adnan's cell since he had it. They already had the autopsy report, the car, and the cell ping information by the time he went in. He didn't really supply much of anything but a story that perfectly fit the narrative that cell information provided and it would be probably the weirdest pattern someone would take if they did just kill somebody and had their body in a trunk (killing inia beat buy parking lot, going to practice, visiting friends, etc.)
