"I think the game is in a great place. I love watching the games, and I think we have some of the most skilled athletes in the world competing -- and it's unfair, I think, to the players to lump them into categories as 3-point shooters or a midrange shooter or big man playing under the basket. It's an amazing game."

"Having said that," he continued,
"we're constantly having discussions about whether there are ways to improve stylistically the game on the floor."

Are you stupid or are you dumb?

The NBA is ALWAYS looking into modifying its play (for better or worse).

The whole inception of the NBA Cup is through the league's initiative to bring more life to the regular season. The play-in tournament. The restyling of the All-Star Weekend. These are all changes that the NBA believes will further evolve the product.

The hilariousness of thinking y'all have got some win out of this when the NBA is going to keep changing, it's not going to go back to a time when y'all loved the game. Do y'all think Silver is going to bring back the 90s or some shyt?

:picard:
You’re an idiot

And what is your infatuation with the 90s ?

It's not going to make y'all enjoy the game more if it doesn't benefit y'all sensibilities.

You think visually the game is going to more palatable if we have a whole bunch of international big men on teams like the Grizzlies, Pels, Spurs, Jazz etc? That's going to make y'all happy? That's gonna make y'all sit back and be content with the product? Y'all gonna be happy if foreign players on teams who y'all don't even support dominate the league?

I don't have an issue where the players come from

I've realized I'm tired of 1-17 from 3

Why? KAT for example is better taking 5 threes a game than 5 post up shots.

He’s decent at posting up but he’s an All-Timer as a shooter. It’s had a transformative effect on our offense.
5 threes a game ain't hurtin, it's the nikkas goin 4-17 and shyt, that's OD

Here's what Silver has stated -

"We're constantly having discussions about whether there are ways to improve stylistically the game on the floor."

"Historically, at times, we've moved the 3-point line," Silver said. "I don't think that's a solution here"

"I think the game is in a great place."

"We've just come off the last two years of the highest attendance in the history of this league. We're at a point where our social media audience is at the highest of any league and continuing to grow exponentially. So, there's not a lack of interest in this game."

The wholesale changes to the 3-pt shooting that y'all want aren't going to happen. He doesn't believe that's a problem that needs to be solved. It's not affecting the interest in the game (like y'all believe it does), so why would he drastically change that element of it?

Y'all just gonna have to deal with that or stop watching the product. It really is as simple as that.

And the Celtics are the biggest offenders of abusing the 3pt shot

Ultimately the point is that you would like for the percentage of a team's PPG being based on 3PT Scoring to drop globally to around 20 to 30%

According to NBA.com/stats that's about where it was in 2016-2017 (The Warriors were at 31% for reference)

But today 3PT Scoring is up to as much as 47% of a team's PPG (Celtics at 47.5%)

The 2016-2017 Warriors would be almost last in today's NBA in comparison which is insane

They’re not abusing anything, they have the personnel to play that way so they play that way :manny:

the NBA has a problem on their hands and its not just limited to the 3pt barrage - the product is boring and not interesting at the moment. we're seeing it manifest in disappointing viewership #s and general public sentiment. every corner of the internet is lined with similar discourse we see here about how the product is bad at the moment. Nearly EVERYONE I know irl feels the same way, I know diehard NBA fans --- "fanatics" even -- that have drifted from the game (myself included). I know my experience is shared by MANY, I do think the NBA needs to reengineer the product a bit for it be more enjoyable to consume

Genuinely, do you believe the NBA has a problem on its hands with it not being enjoyable after reading that?

Silver doesn't seem to think so.

Most importantly, he's not going to reengineer the product when the NBA is as popular as it is. Why would he sacrifice the popularity of the league for a vocal minority?

I really don't see how there's this much of a disconnect where y'all are saying something needs to be fixed because people aren't watching it anymore, yet Silver believes the product's interest is at a point where the NBA has the "highest attendance in the history of the league" and a greater online audience than any other league in the world.

This place is like Reddit where y'all just read the bait headline instead of the article :russ:
It's no different to what happened in that other thread about the NBA viewership being down 45% since 2012.

Nobody bothered to vet the actual source of those stats (from a MAGA agency with an axe to grind), they just read the thread title and took it as gospel because it layered their confirmation bias. Then when it was made known that those stats were fabricated, not actually reflective of the NBA viewership, at all, nobody wanted to hear it.

Same damn thing is happening in here.

Cats don't wanna read or don't wanna listen to anything obstructs their echo chamber.

What about Shai last night shooting step back 3s

Lol
He can make those shots though. U acting like Mac and Kobe didn’t have games shooting 8 of 24 bricking pull up threes and shyt. It happens.

Plus, Shai is one of the best midrange shooters in the league, probably one of the best we’ve seen actually, yet that isn’t highlighted when it comes to him.

Somewhere tropic...
That still doesn't answer the question as to why posters on here don't embrace Jokic/Nuggets. That still doesn't answer the question as to why posters on here don't say more players/teams should be more like Jokic and the Nuggets. That still doesn't answer the question as to why they've shytted on Jokic for the last 4-5 years.

Why is that? Shouldn't Jokic be this board's hero? Why has he been a villan on here instead?

Why don't these posters embrace DeRozan and the Kings who take considerably more midrange attempts than the rest of the league? Why aren't posters coming out and saying "I really like watching DeRozan and the Kings, they're keeping real hoops alive"?

DeRozan not y'all hero? DeRozan not playing the game how y'all want it to be played?
Please tell us who WE embrace, sir.
