Why doesn't Bron make AD better? I remember a time one of the most prominent narratives from Bron fans and media was that he made his teammates better whereas a certain other star didnt....
Gasol came to LA a very skilled, soft loser and left a very skilled, respected leader and multiple champion. :youngsabo:

I'm just saying. :hubie:

You don't think he's made AD better?

Sports aren't linear, you and I both know this. All great players have had to adapt their games to win at a higher level, from Mike and Bron and Kobe on down. AD was putting up huge numbers in his Pelicans career but missing the playoffs 5 of 7 years...

In 4 Laker years he's made the playoffs more in shorter time (3x), with one of those seasons, '20, people calling him arguably the best player in ball because of his playoff run, and this year, people reigniting the idea of him as the best defensive player in basketball...

It's his Lakers tenure that has people putting him in Top 75, calling him the greatest defensive player ever (Mark Jackson last night), calling him a GOAT playoff player (nikkas on here). Nobody was calling him any of those things befire he played with LeBron, so I think you gotta stretch to say Bron hasn't made him better...

Bron has inspired him to play thru injuries he used to take time off for. Bron helped unlock a higher defensive gear for him, we know Davis don't like playing the 5 and it isnt his natural position, but he's probably at his most value defensively by playing the 5 (though I'd say he's the absolute best version of himself as a complete player if he is playing the 4 with an adequate center behind him)...

Bron has made him better, bro. This dude has no career of note without him...

This way always one of my points when talking about the Bubble ring. I just don't see that AD has it in him to be dominant over a championship run under normal circumstances, meaning right after the long RS that takes its toll physically and mentally.

Lakers wouldn't have even made the playoffs without AD and AD was CLEARLY the best player throughout the playoffs. Casuals just don't realize it because he literally anchors the defense every single game. He plays harder on defense than anyone on the team and it isn't close.

Yeah, it's almost like without playing in an isolated, unprecedented situation, he looks like an unreliable star :sas2:
