I think Newcomb and Foltynewicz have the potential to be good, but I can't see either of them being the #1 starter. Teheran isn't a legitimate ace either. He's shown flashes, but I don't have confidence in him to keep it together for an entire season. We don't really have a guy ready to go in the farm system that can be an ace this team needs right now either. Come playoff time, assuming we can keep playing at this level, we're going to need someone like how the Astros needed Verlander last year to put them over

This little run is nice but no one thinks the braves are contenders yet, this offense disappears too much, we haven't played the nationals enough. Let's chill on trade deals, it ain't even june

Folty is still wildly inconsistent with his overall demeanor on the mound and he uses a lot of pitches for a minimum amount of innings. I like Newcomb but I don't see him as an ace either @TheGreatShowtime

Another move for a pitcher or two (bullpen) will have to be made if AA thinks this team is making a postseason run

The Braves aren't the only team to lose to the Marlins breh.....

The Braves got a +65 run differential, 2nd to the Cubs at +72 in the NL. The third team in the NL is the Phillies at +35. That's a HUGE margin. The Braves offense is fine, which is why I'm not as concerned about the 3B spot as I am with finding an ace. They literally dropped 6 runs in the 9th yesterday to comeback to win.

Some times teams struggle. I'm pretty sure the Red Sox got no-hit earlier this year, but they have a +75 run differential

Newcomb is 24 and has 4-5 starts back to back of 1 runs or less, 3-4 hits or less, and 6 innings or more. Last pitcher to do that for us was Glavine in 2000. Not saying he’s an ace yet, but he’s well on his way. We got Gohara and Soroka in the bigs now and Allard right behind them. In a perfect world, we finish the year with these 4 and Folty/JT in the rotation. I would like to add an ace but not at the expense of stifling the growth of our young guys and definitely not at the price of trading them away. We just need to ride this thing on out and see what else we need come the offseason

Been a rough last year for him...his dad dies suddenly last year and now his mom's really sick so he's goin back home for bereavement soon.

He's a fat guy, make no mistake about it, but he's talented and young (21). Might be a part of our long term future depending on how well he can pitch at this level
