you mean that singer that always shows up to every concert she does late as fukk and does not apologize and asks to be called "Ms Lauryn Hill" like some diva
at least when D'angelo was constantly pushing his album back for years we knew who he was working with ...QuestLove...does lauryn even have a producer?

I have been a huge fan of Lauryn Hill since I was a child and so I jumped at the chance to see her live, reassuring myself that money should be no obstacle I paid £175 for two tickets! I was well aware of her passed antics and so when the DJ came on just after 9pm my heart sank. Little did I know his 45 minutes of split second glimpses of old skool hip hop, reggae and R&B tunes would be the most hyped the crowd would be all night.
When she finally graced us with her presence she was unapologetic and arrogant. She rushed through songs at a break neck speed that rendered them unrecognisable to even the die hardest of fans. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good remix and encourage artistic experimentation, but this was just disastrous. At one point, feeling that I might be missing a trick, I scanned round to find the majority of the 5000 strong crowd silently stood still, mouth agape staring at the stage.
After a soul destroying rendition of Ex Factor, she left the stage to enable an acoustic set up, this was the point that everyone started booing, maybe they thought she was done, I know I hoped she was. But back she came and on reflection I'm glad she did. She launched into the MTV unplugged material and then moved swiftly on to Fugee renditions and covers of Bob Marley classics.
Although her voice shows no real semblance of its former self and much of it's clarity and alluring silkiness has been lost, when she wants to, she can still command a crowd. The concert ended on a high with everyone dancing a long to Doo Wop (That Thing), clearly feeling relived that then night wasn’t a complete wash out. However, even before she had left the stage people had started to leave and there was not one call for an encore.
One cant help but feel sorry for Ms Hill, her's is a tale of wasted talent and what might have been, annoyingly it’s a tale of wasted money for me.
The Lauryn Hill story I have still makes me /to this day.
Back in '05 - I went to see Lauryn at The Royal Opera House in London with my girl at the time. Lauryn rolls in late on some and opens with a song I haven't heard her do before or since - I still get chills thinking of it. Anyway, the show rolls on until Lauryn decides to do some poetry. I'm like . We're up in the nosebleeds and about halfway through the poem, someone at ground level starts shrieking:
"SING SOME fukkING SONGS, bytch! IT'S MY COUSIN'S BIRTHDAY!" Lauryn ignores the person and carries on - I think random audience members shut the heckler down after a while.
Fast forward a few years and I'm reading an interiew with Amy Winehouse and it basically comes out that she was the heckler from the show we went to.
Ever since then I was about her.
I have people who knew her around the time 'Frank' dropped, but I never got on the 'Back To Black' train.
L.Boogie needs to stop with the lateness though...
