show with 4 kids = they know it aint going pass season 1

And like Boy meets World and Family Matters by time season 3 hits .. the youngest will magically never exist ...

Show could work ... Should've been called " Black Enough" or something like that, I'm not a fan of Black-ish ...

To some of yall complaining about the jokes .. maybe it works better in the show with the entire routine ..

And its a Bro-Mitzvah not Bar .....

I do wonder if that trailer was all from the pilot or multiple episodes.... it sounds like 1 episode but I hope not

Anthony Anderson hasn't had the best luck with network sitcoms. He's not a strong male lead and the trailer seems to support the idea . It will air in the post Modern Family slot, which hasn't helped any sitcom for the past few years. I didn't watch Tracee Ellis Ross's show on BET but I'm assuming she's playing a similar character. Laurence is just looking to fleece the networks for a check at this point. Kids who are focal points of television shows usually aren't strong indicators for success, but ABC is the one network where these shows flourish e.g. Modern Family, Family Matters, The Middle, Step By Step.

This and Fresh Off the Boat, Eddie Huang's show, both present how minorities assimilate to white culture in order to achieve success. I don't think either show will be groundbreaking, or hell, competent in their presentation but at least it's different.

I'll watch because it's been a long time since a predominantly black sitcom was on network television. I don't know how many black people are Nielsen families, but I hope it's a decent amount for this show's sake.

no way the Jeffersons and Fresh Price are in the same premise ..

Now... I do think this may be an updated version of the Cosby Show

All the same general premise: black fish out of water trying to adapt in a white middle/upper class environment

Only difference is the number of Will's vs. Carltons. Its all the same dynamic and the same kind of jokes...

The Original Rec Room Gang

A show about a Black man trying to take pride in being a black man
Teaching his family that its OK to be themselves, and that they don't have to fit into other cultural "boxes"
The show itself didn't seem all that funny, but the show seems to be about more than just another comedy
The cast is top notch, right people producing it
I'm sure it'll be a hit. Not sure if the skinny jeans nikkaz respect themselves enough to catch the point
We'll see tho :win:

the executive producer of the show is Larry Wilmore, who is replacing stephen colbert on comedy central, and his background is pretty impressive after looking into it:

Wilmore has plenty of writing and production chops: he co-created The PJs alongside Eddie Murphy and The Bernie Mac Show, and he’s written for In Living Color, The Jamie Foxx Show and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. co-created the Bernie Mac Show and The PJs. He was also a consulting producer on The Office (yes, he’s the guy from “Diversity Day“). His book,I’d Rather We Got Casinos and Other Black Thoughts, was released in 2009.

Bruh, the issue is a generational one. The youth of today have been programmed to only like ignorant shyt
A show like this has literally scared some of the posters
It wasn't what they was expecting. And if it has a message?
6a0120a95a88d5970b019b00b04a1d970b-800wi

And this applies to even you bruh. You lookin for how this can maybe fit into a comedy scheme you used to
The show will be funny, but its aiming to be more than that
And being on ABC, it literally has to. I hope it works out :salute:

i will give blackish a few episodes before i write it off, but the trailer never made me laugh at all, and it just was so over the top. the dude's african garb literally did look like watermelon for fukk's sake

but still, if the jokes can improve, i will stick with it.

FOB actually looks decent.i can tell the mom is going to steal the show from the kid.
