Depends on the person. People may say yes because it wasn't chemically altered, and others will say no because they feel that applying heat to attain a certain hairstyle is still altering natural hair.

it's one of those gray areas in natural hair.

Well Ill say no because it turned her hair into a different type of hair which is different from her natural hair type.

Personally it looks more European which is my main issue with it.
