00000000000000000000000000002506It's a cool album but ultimately 6.5 to 7 out of 10 for me. I probably won't return to most of it unfortunately.
It kinda feels thematically all over the place and often times he sacrifices brevity and flow to clumsily deliver a punch line. He's seemingly afraid to push the button despite naming his album "Do what thou wilt". Instead of trying to prove how great he is with a punch line or a sixteen or some other singular unit brilliance he should should attempt to push an overall theme from beginning to end with the album.
This is what puts him behind Q and Kendrick IMO. TPAB and Blank Face LP are top tier contemporary albums, he should look to emulate with his own spin on the world.
To sum this up, Ab-Soul suffers from Lupe Fiasco-isms. Some word play here or there or an ill 16 does not a dope album make. Neither does it make you a brilliant writer.

I can respect that. I like the record but I agree it's not as good as Tpab or Blank Face, however I do feel it's lyrically better than both.

Came in to hate but breh just dropped his best album. Beats are DOPE. Brehs we need to talk about TDE having the best in-house production in rap right now, by far. Never heard of this Bentley Haze dude but gawd dam @ The Law. That's the type of record that goes to Drake if an OVO tent producer makes it.
I feel like part of the reason this shyt works is because Soul threw the preachiness in the bushes and simply embraced the reality that he's a nut lol. This shyt is paranoid, schizophrenic, etc. Themes of femininity pulsate throughout, but not in the way you'd think.

He really has because there's some truly
-worthy verses on here. Might have to concede TDE having the best in-house production right now. The production on Isiah Rashad and this so far is immaculate
