We heard "7 Minute Drill" which was generic "you suck, I'm better than you" rap battle bars so I seriously doubt Kendrick would've dropped anything in the ballpark of a "Meet The Grahams" as a response.

I will never understand Cole bowing out of the battle. Even if he was tipped off that it was about to get ugly with Drake. Which had nothing to do with him. And even if he was warned it could get equally ugly for him....that's what he signed up for by constantly talking about being the best.

He had to know he'd have to battle someone eventually and given rap's long history of super disrespectful disses ("No Vaseline" came out in 1991....it's about to be 2025)....it's not as if rap battles were on some "yes yes yall, to the beat yall" time prior to Drake vs Kendrick. He had to know popping sh*t would eventually lead to a battle, and all that comes with it.

Port Antonio, J. Cole spoke in NUANCE of his reasons. But to sum it up, he never felt right dissing his homie. That night at the Dreamville Fest, he stated it was his dumbest mistake he has done and it took him off his mental due to peer pressure. And he checked himself and held himself accountable. What's unusual is him doing it publicly the way he did.

We're so so-called cultured in hip hop that we never seen something like this before. And I feel most of us were mad at the fact we didn't get such a battle between those two than even thinking or seeing these rappers are human beings with a close bond.

The BIGGER QUESTION is had this been an elite MC who dissed COLE and COLE NEVER had any close ties or a true falling out with that rapper, would he not only pull back his dis, but go even harder at that rapper?

The problem with this logic is we have no idea how close Kendrick and Cole really were.

Cole and Drake were buying each other gifts and sh*t....performing together....doin collabos, hanging out, etc. For years prior to this situation.

People talk as if Cole had the same relationship with Dot....and he didn't. He never did. I'd say they were cool, probably had a mutual respect, but I never seen anything in the ballpark of what people are describing, when they talk about Cole/Dot's "close friendship".

It just comes across as people trying to shoot Cole bail.

And I wasn't a fan of "Port Antonio". Some of the sh*t on there came across as light subs, which is corny to me.

Maybe, he did the same with No Name Gypsy but maybe cause she was a woman.

"What side of my bi-racial friend is calling me they nikka?"

Point being, there is a pattern of him subbing his "friends" as well as popping shyt and apologizing. Not everybody is THAT COOL with you to jeff like that.

U seem to have a deep rooted issue with anyone who goes at Kendrick in any kind of way. Making like Cole some grimey ass nikka is corny when the nikkas involved don't even look at him like that. And Wale played himself saying that cause he was def calling Cole his nikka all the way up until that shyt. They turned around and peaced it up anyway. Wale was crashing out on Social Media like every week at that point and Cole basically told the nikka he need to chill out cause he got fans that love him.

This is funny as fukk coming from you considering how much you crash out and reach in the opposite direction. Especially considering how many negs I have caught for not crowning him or saying how he'd get spanked by xyz.

Drake...fukk Drake, before and after the Kendrick scenario. And I have no 'deep rooted' issues with Cole, I'm just calling it how I see it and have no reason to shoot him any bail.

That's a nikka who's involved saying the same shyt I'm saying...they ain't THAT cool. The notion that he's protecting some close bond is a reach and only shown to be coming from one side of things thus far. From a nikka trying to save face no less.

As for him being grimey, Cole is too wishy washy and unsure of himself to be "Grimey", on purpose at least. As much wolfing as he does, I don't see a lot of malicious intent. What I see more so than that is lack of integrity, somebody who wants to play both sides and not stand on shyt which makes you unappealing to be around and creates ample oportunity for people to peep patterns that indeed make you look grimey.
