I hate the Packers, but are they not supposed to try and get better?
What post 2010 have the packers done that would make Rodgers untouchable? Regardless of how you spin it, dude is 1-4 I'm NFC Championship games, and 0-4 over the past 10 years, gets injured often, is a huge diva, costs a ton of money and often gets into beef with his coaches/team.
Mahomes been to more super bowls than him.
Here's the issue. Without Rodgers, this is a 7 win team with young Jordan Love or some other QB. We saw that in 2017 and 2013 when Rodgers missed significant time.
The Packers have done an OK job in the draft. They've been able to get guys like Adams, Jones, Bakhtiari outside of the 1st round. Offensive line picks have been great. They hit on Jaire Alexander and Kenny Clark in the 1st round.
But they have whiffed on a number of picks notably their CB picks since 2015, they haven't drafted a ILB in the 1st round or 2nd-3rd rounds, they haven't gotten prime WR prospects since Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb were let go, and they haven't been able to get Clark help on the DL. They also didn't have EDGE rushers and used free agency to get the Smiths and drafted Rashan Gary who seems to becoming a player and better than Preston Smith.
The Packers are probably going to have the draft they shoulda had last year which shows a complete lack of perspective by the front office. Gutekunst is not an impressive executive and his underlings are just his yes-man or friends.
If Love wasn't drafted, Rodgers probably isn't pissed and the direction of the franchise is clearer. We're going all in getting as many guys to help us win it all. But this front office is not proactive. They haven't signed an outside free agent. The salary cap issues are a problem and they did their best on that front but they haven't been as aggressive as they need to be to manipulate it more if you want to improve like KC did for example.
