McGruder is a hoe ass nikka. Carl Johnson (co-creator/Thugnificent) broke the ice about the whole situation earlier this year with Vlad. Basically, it ended because they fell out with each other and it started when Johnson got the green light from Adult Swim and Sony to create Black Dynamite while he was also working on Boondocks. Johnson felt like Mcgruder was doubting whether he could do production for both and that eventually led to Carl noticing Aaron switching up on him and starting arguments over little shyt. Carl came to the conclusion that Aaron wanted to keep him under his wing and didn’t want him to shine on his own shyt. Between them falling out and pressure from the network and deadlines, Aaron said fukk it and quit the show while season 3 was only half way done with production.

After season 3, Adult Swim and Sony begged them to patch things up. Carl reached out to Aaron and asked him to come back to the show. Aaron said NO and they haven’t spoken since. This was like 13 years ago.
Damn. On the real, season 2 was the last good season. After that, it started to fall into a parody of itself. First two seasons, though, had strong social commentary but it went over little kids heads and simple minded people, and they focused on the n-word, Riley, and Uncle Ruckus

That comment section is exactly what I thought it would be. Nothing but shyt flinging and insults instead of actual dialogue. These type of discussions are too nuanced to have online fr.

No need to dialogue with that c00n. You sound like you support him. I could never walk around looking for white acceptance

Edit- it’s a lot of you super c00n “they ain’t ready for that discussion” nikkas in here :dahell:

That was the point of the show. Huey was the one who took a step back and pointed that shyt out. It wasn't c00nery for c00nery sake.
And that's why the last season took a dive after Aaron left, the writers had no idea how to write Huey's character(because it takes a political consciousness and skill to write him effectively), so he was barely featured. Without Huey the Boondocks is damn near a minstrel show.

The show always communicated that Ruckus is a fool. So much that lightning literally struck him once.

Nope. I don't care about our image appealing to and eliciting sympathy from white people. Projecting a good image to influence black youth is another story. Over time, I've come to see that now.

So he had me at the image part, absolutely lost me with the "white folks are watching us" foolishness.

We are literally at the bottom of the economic totem pole. Latinos done surpassed us QUICKLY.
We've always been at the bottom of the economic totem pole here. And I'd hope that you're studious enough to understand that these other groups surpassing us, was created by the authority and power here----->not because of a lack of organization and education by us...

You can't say that it doesn't matter if they hate us when we can list countless examples of US "doing the simple shyt to build community" and having multi-generational roadblocks that are almost entirely unique to just being black in America...

There are always things we could do better as a community but we don't have the keys to the doors of wealth, success, or authority. So blaming us for not having more of those positions is, in a sense, anti-black and shows an ignorance of the historical record of the black experience on this land...

Judging us by the worst examples among us is anti-black, do you judge them by their worst examples?

And I appreciate this dialogue, please understand I'm not coming at you from a place of disregard or disrespect!
