never got the fascination with this overrated broad :shaq2:

she wasn't even a top tier r&b singer when she was alive

I remember I was in middle school when she first came out and the girl in the grade above me looked pretty similar to her called into the radio station and said she was aaliyah :mjlol:

90s fukkery before social media was some next level shyt. :banderas:

Rumors spreading without the benefit of everybody being on the internet like that you know it had to be crazy :damn:

You’re right to be honest, she wasn’t that big before her death. She made dope music and she was cute but you can pick any 90s R&B starlet to fit the mold

Aaliyah's praise is due to her being fine as fukk and from my understanding having a pretty nice attitude. The reason Dame, Jay, Timbo and all these people "Fell in Love" with her because she was the fine girl who you felt you had a shot with. She wasn't a terrible singer, not a great performer, nor great actress but she could dance.

She was the #1 profile image for fat bytches too scared to use their real pic during the black planet college club and myspace days. IIf you saw Aaliyah as someone's profile pic just know she was hideous.

She had the records.

R kelly/timbaland/Missy laced her career with undeniable song writing and production. songs like back and fourth, One in a million, 4 page letter, at your best and then to go out with Rock the boat:damn:

Those records would be outta here with any pretty face. Not going to act like AALIYAH was immensely vocally talented but her music resonated in a way people would die for.

:yeshrug: I was only 7 going on 8 when she died so I never really had that big of a attachment to the artist Aaliyah, but I did know she was fine and had hits. I remember that episode of 106 & Park when she died, sad af.

Happy birthday and RIP to Aaliyah though.

The fascination is that she was young, well liked, was notably humble, and died at a critical career moment.

She was only 22 and was at the start of a major crossover. She was booked up until like 2007 with major movies, world tours, etc. Whether or not you feel she was overrated, she never got the opportunity to live out her career to its fullest. And even if she was "overrated", she will always be more relevant than whoever your favorite is.

So respect THE QUEEN, fakkit.

You coli cats live in an alternate reality. These lies could never have me triggered.

LOL @ Aaliyah not being "that big" when she was alive...BUT this is the same Aaliyah that was beating out prime Britney Spears for awards and charting #1 records from just airplay.

FOH, fakkit.
