I prefer Aaliyah to Beyonce but in terms of artistry Beyonce beats her hands down, songwriting ability, dancing, better voice, better live performer....

People love to rewrite history.... big L died and all of sudden some idiots are saying "if big L were alive Jay wouldnt have been as big" , forgetting that his first album released in 1995 never sold past 200,000 copies

How? She didn't write her own stuff. Didn't have that good of a voice and Beyonce is a better dancer.

Now if it's like Nemesis said, you prefer her music, that's cool, I lean the same way. A big part of that however is the Missy and Timbo influence.

Despite my preference, I can easily say that Beyonce is more talented.

They were in two different lanes. Aaliyah was R&B while Beyonce is pop, of course they have different sounds.

The idea that Beyonce wouldn't be as popular is ridiculous because:

1. B was arguably much bigger than Aaliyah when she died.

2. The fact that they were in different lanes makes it likely that they could coexist. It's like saying Adele and Lady Gaga couldn't co-exist.

Nope if u Look at Beyonce's dancing during the Destiny Child's era, and u compared her to Aailiyah from 95-2001. Aaliyah was the better dancer. of course now Beyonce is the better dancer cause she was able to improve... cause u know Aaliyah died when she was 22..
also Vocally, they're just about even... And i'll give Aaliyah the edge again since she died at 22, and Bey was able to improve and mature as a vocalist well into her mid 30's ...
