I agree that they went with a safe ending that would catch them the least amount of criticism but when a show becomes that popular, there is that fear of doing an ending that appeals to most rather than what would be the most logical and literary fulfilling ending. The most logical ending like others said would've been Walt dying alone or being brought up on charges while his family is forced to live broke, and Jesse is stuck working for them Nazis but like others said, Americans want happy endings even if it is for "bad" people.

As someone who hss BB as their favorite show I completely agree. Last season was GOAT tier but they went way too cookie cutter with that ending. If they would have had the balls to so a sopranos type hard ending shyt woulda been great

I think Skyler committing suicide fits that universe. Would be a more suitable loss to Walt. But the ones opposing this thread represent the Americans who would have lost their shyt if that was the ending.
No one would have lost their shyt if that happened. It just wasn't necessary for the story and would itself have been a bit of twisted fan service for the "we hate skylar" brigade.

Hey that's like your opinion man

A whole thread popped off in here with people who feel differently. The character Skyler was hated so much she had to write an OP ed to show the character's viewpoint.

In fact are you trolling?

I think he's saying that's why the writers didn't do it.

Fans were sending death threats to the actress in season 4. For her character to commit suicide in season 5....would not be a good look.

They wrote season 5A and B pretty much in a vacuum. There was no "well, the show is popular now, we gotta appease the fans"....because the show wasn't popular when those seasons were written. Due to AMC giving "Mad Men" a fukk ton of money, they wanted to cut the budget and run time of "Breaking Bad" down to 8 episodes. That's it. Vince Gilligan threatened to take the show elsewhere, and finally AMC caved and gave him 16 episodes.

So....nah. They definitely didn't write any part of the show due to pressure from it's popularity.

Walt was supposed to die and they delivered on it. That alone put it in the satisfying category. They didn’t try to swerve it or go for a shocker.

Jesse should've been dead

Being kept alive as a meth slave cook? Ok :mjlol:

This is my only complaint the ending should have been Jesse dead. With Walt seeking revenge (For Jesse and Hank) and dying a criminal with no one knowing what happened or caring. The only Caveat is we’re getting a Jesse TV movie so him surviving served a purpose.

To keep it short, I felt the show that was written deserved a much bleaker, and darker ending, I think when the show became so popular, and Walt became a cult figure they pulled back, because the show's writing was so dark and grim, for teh ending to be essentially the happiest it could have been. Walt went out on his own terms, made peace with himself and family, and Jesse lost the girl, but essentially has everything he wanted.

I envisioned when where Walt basically has to plead guilty in federal court, and do 25 years, while his families assets are stripped, and he has those years to regret, and tell his stories of bravado and legends of Heisenberg Gus.

It was a fun ending, but thematically, they missed the landing for the ground work that built the bulk of the series.

You’re right but the Shield sort of did this (though they chickened out by not putting Vic in jail). It was and ok ending but it didn’t leave a large impact after the murder suicides happened. BB had a fine ending.

Breh all those things Walt did for a reason though . The problem to me with breaking bad (which is my favorite show all time next lost and the shield) was that Walt went bad from where he started however his enemies were actually pieces of shyt as well so did I like Gus and mike ? Yes but they were criminals who also killed people and had killed more people than Walt and was gonna kill his family . Jesse also led to that as well . Walt would Of ran if he had the money as well but skylar gave it away . Jesse was the fukk up and tbh if he wanted to take down Walt working with hank wasn’t the right way . Hank also was a fukk up he should of went to the higher ups and told them everything instead he wanted to be a Popeye Doyle ( who lost ) and wound up dead .

Also Walt begging for Hanks life and saying he’d give up the money to me kept him from truly being evil .

All of the characters had glaring weaknesses. Todd was lusting for Lydia, so he kept Jesse alive to cook just so he could stay in her good graces and hopefully smash one day.

Definitely plausible. The things people do for P****

The Mighty LBC
it was fine.

the best episodes happened before it obviously.

the shield has the best finale of all time still, i think.

The Shield betrayed Vic's character by not having him attempt to warn Ronnie in some way. Vic was alot things, be he wasn't a snake in that way. He would've put himself at risk in an attempt to warn Ronnie.
