it's something that comes from vinyl and cassettes, where albums had to be broken up onto two sides

the Death Certificate tape had a "life side" and a "death side"

True I didn't really think of it that way because tapes haven't been used for so long. But vinyl has made a comeback in recent years so putting your album together like that especially for someone like Tip is something I think he would do. It's just an extra thing that people don't think of in these days of playlists and iPods and even cds because there's no need to stop the medium to turn it over so you don't need to break it down into 2 sides and think about t flowing that way.

What would be the reason for not giving it 5? Just asking..

Well shyt it's been 18 years, man. I don't realistically think it's 5 Mics. But for publication purposes, it deserves it.

They waited almost 2 decades to put out an LP and it delivered. They didn't try to cross over and do shyt that WASN'T on some Tribe standards. and all of the surviving members are in their mid 40's now. Based on those statistics, they deserve it..It's been 4 years since XXL gave K-Dot the XXL. Why can't the vet's get one?

Hopefully it has an impact on vets to show that they DONT have to hit the trends and all that to make a dope album.

so far its not a 5/5 to me cuz the pace of the album slows down a bit in the middle of both discs, the tracks there havent grabbed my attention like the other ones did

tho they got some bangers in the space program, we the people, mobius, conrad tokyo, the donald, etc i felt the album also lack a 'classic' or 'defining' track like those 5/5 albums do

this is a nice breath of fresh air compared to the garbage we've been having in the past decade plus, but to be a 5/5 everything has to have replay value from front to back. imma have to revisit them more before coming to a definite conclusion

That's what i'm asking.

If you don't think it's 5 mics, what's something you would critique about the project?

It's at leas 4.5/5 mics in my eyes. What I would critique? Nothing really.....Even Jarobi White showed up on this shyt...and he didn't really do shyt on the first Tribe LP too much...

i hope the younger heads give this album a chance and really take it in. this is a throwback to when hip hop was fun, musical, had relevant social commentary, and mc's really respected the art. it's a rarity in today's landscape.

very different from the hastag rap, trap rap, drug and sex obsessed, brainless themes that are more common these days. not fronting cause some of it is a guilty pleasure and entertaining, but it's not the type of music i particularly feel good about.

glad to see they went number one with this album. well deserved and great representation of the culture.
