Even if the bomb hit the East coast, the rest of the US and world would suffer along with it. The US isn't prepared for these type of attacks. Look what happened to New Orleans when the hurricane hit - no power, people trapped and died. if a nuclear bomb is launched and successfully hits anywhere, we'll all feel the effects, regardless of location.
