I got a 3 day ban from Gaf once for simply saying I didn't like a particular game that everyone else were all fawning over. (then everyone proceeded to quote the post for about 4 pages until I was banned)
I couldn't even complain because I had no business voicing my opinion there like a normal human being anyway.
It's not just the mods that are messed up, or the owners, the whole community is like that.

It's the largest and most industry relevant gaming forum on the net. It going offline is a pretty big deal even if it's filled with weirdos. Most people just lurk and get information and don't interact with those folks at all anyway.
