Bron at 34 put up what, 27,8,8 last year? I just don't see Buss allowing Kwahi & Dennis to lead him around on a leash if he has that guy paired with AD already. It was sheer gluttony. What did you even fight so hard to keep Kuzma for if you needed Kwahi badly enough that you put everything on standby? I'm not faulting Jeanie or Pelinka. Its easy to look back on it as silly when you have the benefit of hindsight but I think its one of those experience things. He was blatantly stalling and I think a more savvy owner would have scoped that out, primarily when he was shifting meet up locations on the fly nearly two weeks into the ordeal.
I don't see this FO hitting Leonard with theeven if we had a 27 - 30 year old Lebron. I think more so than age, recent success -- or lack of -- would influence the reaction. Maybe if the Lakers had recently experienced playoff success, namely Finals trophies I could see it. I think this drought had them overzealous & greedy. Lebron is still arguably the greatest player on Earth currently and AD is easily top 5. I'm taking that duo over any other tandem in the league. At that point, all you need are pieces around them that fit. Pieces that the FO did a mostly good job at getting all things considered. We're up there in age, but I don't see any immediate glaring holes other than possible injuries due to that age & the Vogel fiasco that will inevietably become a distraction & dominate the headlines at some point during the season.
Lakers would have been dragged through the media and fans if they didn't wait. And it is pretty obvious at this point that Kawhi and his camp are working at an underhanded level and would put all the blame on the Lakers. fukk Kawhi, that's all that matters.
