All these laker fan origin stories are nice but reveal a lot. A lot of folks who complain about "new" laker fans are hypocrites IMO. Some became fans because of kobe more than the team, some became fans because of family more so than the team. To me that's like people whose families immigrated getting mad at New immigrants.

Some of you guys fail to realize that for some of us there is no natural affiliation. I'm from a state with no major pro sports. My Dad wasn't into basketball also. Couldn't really even watch nba until I was practically in high school.

I agree somewhat, but I suppose you mean LeBron fans when you say “new”. The issue with comparing that to Kobe fans is that he’s like Magic in that he is synonymous with the Lakers whereas LeBron has hopped around and so never stuck with the same team through thick and thin. So when some Laker fans who grew up on Kobe are questioned about their loyalty to the team is comes off as crazy.

I’m all for giving people a chance though. Plus it’s not like LeBron’s goals don’t match the Lakers goals of winning titles. Like all things it takes time but all the LeBron/Kobe shyt will smooth over when the team wins.

Ehh but they've all stuck around with no plans on leaving, we all know LeThots would pack their bags if Bron bounces to another team after this contract

to keep it 100 the only people questioning whether Laker/Kobe fans are "real" Laker fans or "Laker first fans" are Bron guys and it's a stan war fueled criticism. Unless you Bron fans are gonna stay Laker fans after he leaves you really got no case tbh. You a little different than the other Bron stans so maybe you'll be LWO for the long term

Some long time laker fans aren't welcoming so why would anyone want to stay?

shyt for me I been a fan since 88. I spent the summer in Cali after the Lakers won that second of the back to back. My aunt bought me a back to back championship hat. Since Kansas City didn't have a team that became my squad.

salute. fan since tragic johnson '84 over here. and unlike you, yall know damn well my town got a team for me to root for but never connected with them like that b. knickerbockers brehs? stop it. i didn't like their name, team colors or their uniforms. so being a young hypebeast for everything lakers vs celtics on cbs with brent musberger, i rolled with the purple and gold

yankees, giants.... lakers. shyt don't even make sense lol

Laker fan story:

Ok so as most of you know im new to LWO and its not a secret that its because im a Lebron James fan but if you gimme a chance and let me start from the beginning i can convice yall im not just a bandwagon hopper.

I was born in the early 80s in Jersey City NJ as a kid Magic and the Showtime Lakers were big sh!t Kareem ,Worthy yall know what it is...moms copped me some Converse Weapons Purple and gold...
But everybody is a fukkin Knick fan...i couldnt get wit it really ...low and behold a young buck named michael jordan caught the eye of a young me and i was hooked ever since ...i was an OG chicago bulls fan losing to the pistons before the 6 rings die hard... still am a fan of them in that era ..fast forward...mikes last days as a Bull...mike was like fukk the Bulls and the front office...i was confused how would i remain loyal to a team in which my favorite player was not loyal too...
Fast forward i became an adult and the nba just paled in comparison to the mj era so i wasnt really a fan of the nba for many years or just maybe casually...i loved shaq...i loved kobe but i felt wrong for rooting for another team after the bulls so i just was casual...
I became more of a serious fan of Lebron after the decision to Miami...
Never considered myself a heat fan...went back to Cleveland Go lebron...never claimed the Cavs...
But now since last year i been claiming the lakers hard as fukk cuz i havent rooted for a team since the OG bulls..

Youre ok with dudes who put a player over the team because its a “Bron guy thing.”

Thats why NBA fans aint shyt and are the worst in sports.

Breh, you had bron fans in here last year desperate to trade our young core for scraps. Zo for Pat Bev. BI for Khris Middleton. Same guys we flipped for AD

You had Bron fans in this thread happy when the Lakers would lose without him

Why would they be welcomed? You got dudes trolling posting in here calling themselves “ New LWO” or LWO president :mjlol:

There’s bron fans who post in here and don’t get any heat cuz they keep it cordial. You’ve blended in better than most

And they won't be welcoming to those they don't expect to stay, classic Catch 22 I suppose. But I've never seen anyone actually invested in the team be turned away:yeshrug:

All fax.
