LA should focus on building quality depth. That is how Toronto beat GS. Forget about bringing in a 3rd max player. What LA should do is

Sign D.Collison, Beverly or T.Rozier 3 yr 18m (6m per)
Sign B.Lopez or D.Cousins 3 yr 18m (6m per)
Sign D.Green,JJ Riddikk or S.Curry 3 yr 18m (6m per)
Sign Mirotic 3 yr 18m (6m per)
Sign Ariza or M.Scott to the MLE
Sign T.Gibson to the Vet minimum

All 3 yr deals would have a 3rd yr player option. All players signing would have 4 incentives to sign with the Lakers:

* Playing time, especially at the PG,SG and C positions
* Playing for a title contender
* Playing in LA
* The potential to sign for a bigger contract in 2 years.

G- Collison/Rozier/ Beverly
G- Green/Reddikk/Curry
C- Lopez/Cousins
F- Davis
F- James
6- Kuzma
7- Ariza
8- Caruso
9- Mirotic
10- Gibson

LA would still have the option of keeping KCP, Bullock, Rondo or McGee

They'd also have the option of adding 1 or 2 players before the trade deadline and during the waiver period.
Completely unrealistic to expect a guy like Mirotic to be a 9th. Even Ariza could find a situation where he could start next season and I doubt Gibson is going to be a fourth/fifth big on any rotation next season.

Breh, if they get Kawhi and Bron really, truly does embrace a Pippen role :banderas: He could be a 20/8/12 guy on like 55% shooting playing 32 minutes.

Kawhi and AD could be 25-27ppg and co-DPOY :whew:
Bron embracing a pippen role?

I’m sayin, this trio won’t be like any team we’ve ever seen. It’s gonna be the first team with a 1a, b and c options. They’ll be interchangeable depending on the situation and will feed off the other’s production. Also preserves the wear and tear on themselves individually.

All the bullshyt narratives people want to throw wont work with this squad. A trio like this goes down in history as one of the greatest ever.

Toronto beat Golden State cause KD was hurt

I agree with your thought process though on the Laker roster

Very well thought out post. I say build through depth if you cant get Kawhi, no other free agent is worth sacrificing good depth. I don't see what everyone sees in Ariza, I think Jeff Green would be a better fit and he made 2.5m as opposed to Ariza's 15m but yeah, the rest looks legit. I don't see Mirotic or JJ taking those kind of cuts but its worth a shot. Seth Curry should be a priority I believe. Not only is he a dead eye shooter, but I thought he defended well in the playoffs. I like your 6m number. Try to get one of the Mirotic/Marcus Morris forwards to stretch the floor (8-10m). Kuzma would be a great change of pace when he subs for them. Faried/McGee/Portis/Rose would also be a good inexpensive depth guys. Rose/Portis/Seth are all 80%+ FT shooters as well.

All that being said, Toronto won because KD and Klay were out, lets be real here :pachaha:

Warriors weakness was exposed regardless even KD played healthy
Not saying raps would win but I felt they actually could

U need a elite 2 way player to cancel out KD
And u need elite defense players with elite team defense

For all of those 12 mins he played and them on fire they still wasnt up big
Granted he left they hit 20 3s won by 1

U need guys who can effect klay and steph that's also key

Green ibaki siakim kawhi Gasol all elite defenders
All 2 way players but only green dont really score at times
That's like tony Allen but nowhere as bad who had effect on them

If u play elite defense and can score u have a good shot regardless of KD

Too many times has Kawhi alone cancel Kd out had spurs or raps beat them with role players playing elite team defense that kept one of splash bros in check

Van fleet team defense and offense at times damn near cancel steph out

That is the formula against them even at there peak no guarantee but a good chance

Ask yourself this if they gave rockets blazers that work without KD but yet were dominated against raps kept scoring 109 all games except game 5 and 6 that says something
U wanna say KD like I said kawhi cancel him out which has been proven
Lebron same
It's the other players defense individual and team that matters most

I think we can work in reverse of the Warriors. Have a top heavy team with Bron/Kawhi/AD and then when LeBron retires use that cap to sign depth and quality role players and extend the AD/Kawhi era.

1.My bench list/order has nothing to do with minute allocation.

2. As I said in my previous post. Playing in LA, for a title contender, with a chance to opt out after two seasons and sign a bigger contract could be incentive enough.

Option 1: Sign a 4 yr 44m deal (11m per)

Option 2: Sign 3 yr 18m deal (6m), opt out after 2nd yr...then sign 4 yr 52m deal...the total would be 6 yr 64m (10.7m)...Not much difference from option #1

Not saying this is what Mirotic, Collison or Cousins will do...but it's possible...especially playing for a title contender in sunny LA.
