Because if you do you'd understand that harassment or discrimination can be ANYTHING.

If you look at a female co-worker for longer than 10 seconds, that could be considered harassment, it doesn't even have to be in a sexual nature, if the co-worker in question feels threatened or uncomfortable, you violated them.

You can be having lunch in the cafeteria and even if you guys are all joking around and shyt, if you say something like "I mean shyt Stacy you know what I'm talking about...I mean you got a applebottom so you know dudes are thirst".

Yeah...she can say she felt sexually harrassed by a co-worker and that it's affecting her work and BAM you're fired. It doesn't have to be some shyt like on TV where a dude is threatening to fire a broad cause she won't go out with him, it can be even smaller than that.

would you be fine if these same co-workers were making jokes about black people? gays should be able to enjoy a civil workplace free from "humor" about their homosexuality. if the guys didn't stop making jokes about gay people in the presence of the gay employee, they deserved to be fired. i've made gay jokes before, but i'm not stupid and insensitive enough to do it right in front of someone whom i know to be gay.

So a couple months back, we get a new hire in. I never really talked to him, just hello/goodbye.

About a month ago, one of our long time employees got fired out of the blue. Soon after, we started having a bunch of sensitivity and harassment training sessions.

A week later, A manager gets canned, and we have another harassment refresher course. Time goes by and two more employees get canned. By this time I know they are getting fired for saying insensitive things, but I just don't know what.

Today they moved me over to that section and I got a chance to meet the new hire, and immediately I knew what happened. Dude is gay than a sumbytch, and I know the guys that got fired due to him.

Most guys that work here come from a mechanic backround so they are used to manly jokes, hoopin and hollerin at women, ect. I think it's unfair that they were expected to change themselves because we got one employee in that doesn't like the way they are.

Now we are down 5 quality employees and weeks behind cause one gay dude wanted to come in and act like a fakkit:pacspit:

The bolded leads me to believe that either:

A. Ya'll did'nt have a harassment training seminar or if you did you had a shytty one

B. You don't understand that a "joke" is not protected by EEO Law and thus your co-workers got canned and deservedly so.

Whether or not you approve of homosexuality or homosexual behavior is irrelevant. Whether or not you think co-workers should have to change their workplace behavior because of another co-worker is ALSO irrelevant because that is against the law and thus, disciplinary action needed to be taken.

This is illegal. You can't do that.

Then when people pointed out that this is illegal and that your feelings on the matter are irrelevant since it's still illegal as well as morally wrong, you basically said IDGAF.

So I mean what more can anyone say. Your homies got fired and rightfully so, since they were informed that such behavior cannot and will not be tolerated.

You can either be an adult and be like "Damn I don't approve of the homo behavior but those dudes are dumb to cost themselves a job since they could'nt ignore a gay dudes mannerisms" or you can go on your merry way thinking the shyt is ok, eventually fukk up like they did and then come on here even more upset when you are eventually terminated yourself.

Right they're your co-workers. But the thing is if ya'll had to do multiple harassment training sessions, and people were STILL making insensitive comments, statments, gestures, or actions then they were rightfully terminated whether their intention was to make him uncomfortable or not.

If dude is LYING then that's one thing but that's not what I'm getting here..

I don't know exactly what was said, but I know for sure it wasn't a gay joke. It was something someone said not even in reference to the guy. He didn't make it up, but he was waiting for people to slip up so he can tell on them.
