I’m actually on Storm’s side more so. We all know the matches are predetermined but thinking the characters were as cool as they are in real life did add something to it.

There's a direct correlation between the ratings going down in America and people knowing too much about wrestlers real lives. People knew wrestling was fake as far back as the 1920's but people didn't mess with wrestlers because they thought they'd whoop their ass.

Edit: Also wrestling is acting but people got to stop comparing wrestlers to screen actors. In wrestling they play the same character every week, actors usually play at very least 2 different characters a year and that's only if they're stuck on a show with 22 episodes a season.

Playing one character for so long eventually makes you synonymous with the character.

Poor analogy from Lance Storm. Pink is always Pink but thats music, not a work of fiction. Obviously this is slightly different from wrestling (because wrestlers have to blur the lines more than actors do) but a better example would be asking Emilia Clark to be Daenerys targaryen all the time.

Breaking the fourth wall (on the show) is never recommended - but performers breaking kayfabe out of the ring is not the deal breaker it used to be. We know its fake.

Rick Ross never breaks kayfabe

Wrestling is a serialized TV show. So the best comparison is to a soap opera and the wrestlers are like soap opera actors.
Fans know that Susan Lucci isn't Erica Kane but that doesn't stop people from coming up to her in the streets and calling her "Erica" and that is pretty much what it is with wrestling.

for anybody else like me that was completely lost by the op not posting the actual context behind the xavier shyt.

this lmaoooo Xavier's reply was in response to both, and didn't immediately come after Storm's :laff:

Also, Jordynne Grace has only recently even changed her handle to that. It's been less than a month she's had 'Trisha Parker' on there :russ:

Also: Be surprised a female wrestler has opportunist views breh :mjlol:

Anway I'ma need her to gain all the weight back plus some extra for a BBW version of the Punk/Joe trilogy vs Faye Jackson :shaq:

She has like an onlyfans account or something, of course she's about branching out outside of wrestling to get whatever money she can.

I always thought the 2nd character name for Woods was weird, only because it literally is a 2nd character name. I could see using the YouTube channel under his real name, but having a 2nd moniker seems unnecessary to me but whatever.

That being said, Bubba Ray/Bully Ray, it's not like you can't be known as multiple people in wrestling for this to be a real topic of conversation or point of confusion.

I agree though, while we all know it's predetermined, seeing the characters that hate each other on TV hanging out takes away from it for me. That's with anything, though. I had to stop looking at backstage pics on IG for shyt like Game of Thrones because I couldn't suspend my belief during the episode when I saw the shyt they were doing BTS. If your role is to portray a character in an environment like wrestling, having multiple social media platforms for yourself and your character seems ideal to me to maintain the illusion but also have your own.
