I didn’t say you in particular. But the whole narrative over the summer was that Phil dropped the ball by drafting Frank. Nobody was blaiming Gaines for blowing the pick. So to say “Gaines drafted well” now that Frankie is looking legit is laughable.

Then again, people did the same thing with KP. Booed him on draft night and blamed Phil, then credited Gaines once he started balling.

If people had their way we'd have mudiyay or winslow instead of KP. But when you bring that up people say that just "luck," or nah that was Gaines.

Okay, but then when they draft Frank, it's not on Gaines, it's on Phil for passing up on DSJ because of his insistence on the "triangle." Which is it?

Phil has a good eye for talent but the reason for those rings is solely because of that and not his coaching or the triangle offense.

I absolutely believe it. Time is passing by now, so you guys are going to try to understate how destructive he was, rewrite the history and all that. He would have surely traded Kristaps. No doubt in my mind. He said it himself that Kristaps wasn’t excluded from trade talks. He was taking calls for Kristaps, and KP’s relationship with the organization had soured so much that he wasn’t answering can calls or attending meetings.

Don’t try to rewrite it any other way.
