:yeshrug: Management has to be smart enough to look at the long term and not make short term decisions based on the wants of their star player. We've seen what happens when you make short term decisions based on the wants of a player, you end up with Joakim Noah at a bloated price.
Noah coming to the knicks has nothing to do with "short term decisions based on a player's wants" lmao
It was a 4 year contract with no player or team options
shytty "long term decision" by a shytty president
Simple as that

I think he sees some of his peers about to get their feet wet in the postseason and he’s being left behind.

I don’t think the idea of waiting his rookie deal AND some of his next deal just to see a playoff game is gonna sit right with him. Everyone said Philly was just waiting for Golden State to fall off before they emerged but they’re about to at least taste the playoffs. That’s valuable experience.

When I said the Knicks should make a push for the playoffs so KP could get some experience, I was called all types of names and such, lol.

The organization clearly wanted to make the playoffs that year, that was not a rebuilding move. It was a move that was supposed to pay off in the short term and it clearly did not.

Knicks should not make short term moves when they are not in a position to do so.

The notion of Joakim Noah being on the New York Knicks’ trading block is hardly revelatory.

After all, any player who’s owed a combined $37.8 million in salary for the next two seasons but who hardly plays is destined to be deemed dead weight. But the Knicks’ urgency to move Noah in advance of the Feb. 8 trade deadline has indeed spiked this week because of rising tensions between the 32-year-old and coach Jeff Hornacek.

According to two people with knowledge of the situation, Noah’s playing time in Tuesday's loss against the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena is at the root of the friction. With fellow big men Kristaps Porzingis out with left knee irritation and Kyle O’Quinn sitting with a left calf injury, Noah had been told to prepare for a rare chance at significant playing time.

But Noah didn’t enter the game until there was 10:09 left in the fourth quarter and the Knicks trailed 100-90. Five minutes later, with the Golden State lead having grown to 16 points, he was replaced by Enes Kanter and would not return. From Noah’s view, this was a far cry from the plan that had been discussed – not to mention a disrespectful way to treat a veteran who hadn’t played in the previous 10 games.

So on his way off the floor, Noah – according to the two people who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation – hollered at Hornacek in the kind of R-rated way that had league executives talking about the growing friction in the coming days. The next day in Denver, Noah shared his view with Hornacek yet again during a heated exchange at Knicks practice, and the team decided to send Noah home to New York for the final two games of their seven-game trip. It’s unclear when, or if, Noah will rejoin the team.

become a big fan of Beasley, Burke, Kanter & McDermott - when the dust settles, I'd hope Beasley & Burke are still Knicks and Kanter & Lee are sent to teams that are competing for the playoffs.

If trades fall through, I'm excited for whatever the rest of the year looks like regardless.

I agree. But I wouldn’t mind seeing Beasley traded to New Orleans with Boogie out. They can slide AD at the 5, Beasley would give them 20/10/3 at the 4 as a starter and keep them in playoff contention.

Beas is a vet, he could do better. The PT he was getting on this team to start the season was disrespectful. The only young piece they really have to give is Cheick Diallo.

Kanter and Lee should be on playoff squads. Maybe we can get 19 year old Terrance Ferguson for Courtney now that Roberson is out for the season. OKC is going to ponder about Courtney Lee and Avery Bradley (edit: got traded to Clippers). The salaries gotta match tho so you got guys like Alex Abrines, Kyle Singler, Patrick Patterson we would have to take on. Abrines is 24 and can shoot the ball at least.

We know the Dubs are interested in O’Quinn. He’s a good fit and an upgrade over Zaza who plays under 15 minutes a night now. They have Jordan Bell for the future who is going to be their 5 for now and potentially Draymond replacement once he hits FA, so they’d probably give up Kevon Looney. I think they definitely searching for some insurance given Bell's inexperience at that position for the playoffs. I think Patrick McCaw would be a nice young piece for us. But, Kerr likes him they see him as a replacement for Iggy/Livingston. McGee has fallen out of the rotation and is one of the few guys who are trade bait.

I don’t know where we can trade Kanter, we might be stuck with him.

Jack should be waived and Noah’s contract should be stretched.

After the deadline we start Trey.I. and give Frank more minutes at both guard spots. More minutes for Willy as well, and should experiment with more KP at the 5. Young pieces like Looney/McCaw and Ferguson are a plus.

Yall not be realistic expecting KP to think like a fan. And not even a regular fan at that. A regular fan wants to see the Knicks winning and in the playoffs at any seed. Only Coli/Pseudo-GM fans are thinking long term, 5 years down the line, protect picks, preserve cap space type shyt.
Of course that man wants the playoffs now. He probably is confident enough in himself that he feels the Knicks are only a competent PG and another scoring threat away from competing. Plus this is a business. He's not emotionally vested in the Knicks like a fan to hang around after his rookie contract to HOPEFULLY compete.
I think "Trey-I" should start. Props to who coined that nickname. :russ: I mean up Ntilina's minutes too especially if Courtney Lee gets traded but I don't feel there's a need to be tryna push this "PG of the future" thing on him. He was only the 8th pick. I could see if we wasted a top 5 pick on him, then it'd make sense to keep trying to force him to be something he's not. Like many like to say in here, he's only 19. Slow walk him. But who realistically thinks he will ever develop the handles to be a full time starting PG? I've never seen an NBA player improve their handles that much over the course of their career, and even his biggest cheerleaders have to see he needs A LOT of improvement in that area. I like his stroke. I think he can become a knockdown 3 point shooter with good vision and a very good defender. A longer Avery Bradley if you will. And he has to imrove to even get Avery Bradley type handles so...:yeshrug:IMO, no shame in looking elsewhere at the point position right now cuz this kids not ready. Remember...he's only 19 :sas2:

If :noah:wants to play somewhere, he'll take a buyout. I'd only stretch him if he doesn't blink as a last resort. fukk having him on the cap til 2024.

No need to get mad at Porzingis for dreaming about playoffs, that's just some shyt you say like "We're a defense first team" :skip:

Best case scenario now is trading Lee for a pick and Kanter or O'Quinn for something decent.

Bonus would be Jack having a minor injury that would keep him out a couple of weeks.

I agree. Him running point is like Shump and Avery Bradley in their rookie years, severely limited handles and feel for the position. I think Frank has better vision than both, he can really make the pocket pass with either hand and run the P&R. Frank, Shump, and Bradley all defended their asses off as rookies. Shump was a lot more impressive than Frank to be honest as a rookie. Shump and Bradley are a lot more explosive vertically and much faster in the open floor than Frank. Frank's development is mostly dependent on that "untapped athletic potential" the scouts spoke about.

I really wish we drafted Mitchell, a local kid looking like the next D-Wade. :mjcry:
