Canelo has been reiterating that jermell is gonna see his skills. So I don't even see him trying to corner jermell like that. He wants to outbox him and pick him apart and prove a point. Peak for peak jermell isn't as skilled or as technical as canelo. He doesn't even have very good footwork. Which is why he always gets himself in vulnerable positions. He's a typical derrick James fighter in that way.
He also has a bad tendency to move back in a straight line just like Spence. If he makes this mistake repeatedly in this fight canelo is going to time him coming off a counter. I expect canelo to use a lot of feints. Dig into the body early. Then walk jermell into something up top late. It's gonna be a brutal high stakes chess match.

Dude couldn't cut the ring off on Kovalev for shyt. Couldn't do it in the 2nd GGG fight or the Lara fight.
Canelo applies pressure in the Pac sense where they just stalk/punch at you. They not really making the ring smaller on you or anything.

If canelo really is washed then I could see this turning into a ugas Pacquiao kinda fight. Where canelo simply can't keep up with the quickness and athleticism. and can't pull the trigger anymore. That's what I wanna know. Does canelo still got the dog in him. Little g was too shook to throw hands like always so he didn't press canelo. But John Ryder came at him in the last few rounds and I felt like canelo coulda done more. He didn't show the hunger.
If jermell can show that kinda grit and start catching canelo in those exchanges I wanna see if canelo will bite down and go to war. Or get hesitant and gunshy. Either way, jermell is the perfect opponent to expose all of these concerns. One way or another this fight is gonna show whether canelo is really done at the elite level. No more excuses about the hand. He's gotta show up in this one.

Canelo gonna have to be super washed to get caught with some shyt like that. But jermell is good at in between shots. That's when he's gonna have to catch canelo. 99% of the time canelo gets caught clean is when he's throwing. Jermell can't be shook to exchange.
